It seems cursed.

Top 4 should get the option. Teams that are playing well don't want a long arse break.

I could be mistaken, but I do believe that since the expansion to a 12 team playoff, teams that receive a first round bye are, as a few moments ago, now a combined 0-5 in playoff games.

People will continue to deny it

It is and seems obvious. TAMU losing to Texas moving us into the 4th spot may prove fatal. Definitely preferred that #5 spot for this exact reason

I think a lot is riding on how the three games go tomorrow. If this pattern continues, I think we’ll see an outcry to fix it. The obvious answer is to move the playoffs to the middle of December, say Dec. 15th at the latest. But that would destroy the tie-in to the big New Years Bowls like the Rose, Cotton, Sugar, and Orange Bowls. I’m interested to see how things shake out.

The fricking long wait in between games sucks for the fans too, why the hell do we have to wait 2 weeks for playoff football

Why don't ask the first round bye teams in the NFL lose then?

I am pulling for Tech the rest of the way.

That bye may help some injured players but it seems to rust the whole team.

Who knows really, could be just bad picks by the committee thinking who is the best, like back in the old football poll days.

Awful small sample size to declare anything.

No, last year they put in a bunch of teams because of AQ status.

And Miami did not gain an advantage by having to play A&M last week.

That said, the #5 seed and #6 seeds were the best seed because no championship game, and then cupcake.

And I remember when people would cry about Alabama getting an extra week off in 2011 and 2017.

You totally missed the point. Do first round bye teams in the NFL go almost a month without playing a game before they take the field in the playoffs?

Look, I’m not making excuses. I’m actually quite happy to see Ohio State lose. But 0-5 is hard to ignore. The pattern is quite clear.

Contrary to popular belief, these kids are college students and they have academic requirements such as finals to complete.

It’s an advantage to have a bye no risk of losing. It’s your responsibility to be ready to play. The advantage is over. You have to have the right mentality.

A 25-26 day break between games is just crazy. Completely destroys rhythm. In theory, a team that doesn't play a conference title game could be top 4, like an undefeated Notre Dame and have over a month off between games. Just absurd

Notre dame isn’t eligible for a bye I don’t think
