Name any instance ever in CF where a head coach willingly leaves for a worse job/program

Just thinking of this Deboer situation, and that it doesn’t have a chance.. because I have never seen a coach willingly leave for a worse ‘perceived’ head coaching job. Only case on my mind is BK willingly leaving ND for LSU, ND has been a better program for the last 3 or so years seemingly, but still LSU is perceived as a better job than Notre Dame.
Can you think of any head coach who has, on his own terms, with equal pay, willingly left a better head coaching job for a perceived worse coaching job? And not including being fired, so he has to leave for a worse job.

Nick Saban leaving LSU for that NFL job. He found out that NFL players don't listen to head coaches.

What are the reasons these 2 head coaches left Bama? The pressure was too high or more money? This was before I was big into college football.

Paul Dietzel left LSU in the 60s for Army. But, Army has a draw that's not equivalent to other schools.

Seems to be an Alabama thing to do.

Fran left because Bama got hit with heavy sanctions right after he took the job.

Delete. OP was referencing football.

Doug Dickey left Tennessee for Florida in the late 60s. Probably the only time we've ever "stolen" a HC.

Alabama was under sanctions that stopped just short of the death penalty. Scholarship reductions, two year bowl ban. Fran wanted out and aTm was the best option.

Jets and Titans are bad too. Ironically they both beat Cleveland but I’m not convinced Cleveland is trying to win games.

10-3 season - would’ve gone to the SEC title game if not for post season ban.
Beat LSU 31-0 in Tiger Stadium. Beat Tennessee 34-14 in Neyland. Played a hell of a game in Norman and could’ve easily beat OU.
The Auburn game was ugly but I think most Bama fans believe Fran had one foot out the door at that point.
