Florida State when they lost by 60 to Georgia

or

ND for outright quitting

Secondly, if FSU pouted and took their ball and went home would their unbeatable image help their optics going into the next year?

It sucks but ND can now claim they ended their season on a ten game winning streak. Against air lol. FSU at least beat Bama. Both win

While FSU showed up in uniform they were a skeleton of their former selves with all the opt outs, so at least ND quit without getting a blemish on their record.

You’ll never convince me that FSU was better off playing their bowl versus opting out. The beat down they took made the committee look like geniuses even if they were missing half their team and the damage it did to the brand will follow Novell forever.

Going forward, any team that gets snubbed for the CFP and has a large number of players sitting out should hang it up and move on to the next season.

Or just treat it like how bowl games were originally treated. As an exhibition game and some free practices for new players who will be playing much more next year.

That would be fabulous. Unfortunately, CFB is big business now and teams have more to lose than gain in playing some random bowl game.

Is it a coincidence that KJ Bolden flipped from FSU to UGA after that game? That FSU finished without a single 5 star in that recruiting class? That they lost 18 players to the December 2023 transfer portal while adding only 5?

It’s a shame but it’s reality. We’ll see if ND’s opt-out has the same sort of consequences, but I doubt it.

And then there was Georgia, who was edged out by a three point loss.

Most of the Georgia seniors played in the FSU game. Many were headed to the NFL

The difference is culture versus a mercenary mentality.

Georgia finished the season at 13-1, three points shy of an undefeated season.

Bottom line and clarifying statement: Notre Dame Quit

ND quit.
Contrast that with Clark Lea and Vandy. "We lost 2 games, we have no one to blame but ourselves."

I believe you to be correct. 5 years from now if bowl games even exist there will be multiple teams backing out of the bowl season. The top bowl this year was the Pop Tart bowl. I mean come on.

Notre Dame will remain unblemished in character for dropping out once the dust settles.

I think he is moreso selling his program as America's team lol. He needs an extra win under his belt.

History has shown it was hard for him to collect wins before Pavia.

FSU. They knew it would be a beat down and showed up.

ND seemed afraid to show up and validate the ranking results if they lost. They caused a lot of young kids, walk-ons, and last year players an opportunity.

No one cares about non-CFP results except for fans of the team and the players, minus opt-outs. ND robbed both groups of an opportunity because of pride.

So much butthurt over teams who choose not to play and some of you acting like it's costing you money or something.

Every opt out whether by a team or an individual, they have their reasons.

Get over it.
