Bad move IMO. He was great the years prior and had you top 10 last year. The problem is hippo ‘s offense.

The issue isn’t the O. This year UT ran a very standard O system. The problem was Willie Martinez should be an analyst not a game day coach.

That defense was built on an above average defensive line and a schedule featuring bad offenses. Tennessee played 11 regular season games against FBS competition. 6 of those 11 teams had offenses ranked 75th or worse.

DBs being out doesn’t excuse years of terrible tackling

His defenses were fine. Must've gotten into Josh's snack stash.

He’s had one decent season in 5 which was entirely the result of a favorable schedule and a 12 deep DL thanks to Rotnei (who’s retiring)

Winning with Defense is so much harder. He had a great defense last year but Hippo and the Samoan let you down in Buckeye Town....

He had to go our defense ranked 14th in the conference this year. Tennessee was one of the worst tackling teams in the country. Too many players out of position it looks like some were running around lost. Didn’t know what they were doing. Too many busted plays.

The tackling was atrocious that’s for sure. To be fair, and I may be alone in this, but I don’t think Martinez is as bad as he’s made out to be. I feel like he develops players, take Redmond as an example. He progressed as the season went on. Now, I do think his recruiting is pretty subpar but has developed players. Sure, there’s probably a better position coach out there that recruits much better and wouldn’t mind that option either.
