And that includes Kirby
That place falls victim to recency bias so much it's ridiculous

I don't think Indiana makes the semis.... Congrats for playing like half the sec does

They'll make the semis. They have the Oklahoma/Bama winner in the quarters and then the Texas Tech/Oregon(they're going to boat race JMU) winner in the semis.Oregon would be a better match up for them

I am still not certain Bama is dead, they are used to these games and Indiana is not. I suspect a motivated Bama.

Bama has to get by Oklahoma first and frankly, Oklahoma might beat them worse than the first time. Venables has them figured out

Maybe, But they still have a hell of a roster. It's 17-22yos, they are up and down. Simpson gets over what I think is a concealed head injury and back to lighting the world afire.
That said doesn't hurt my feelings either way. Oklahoma can't beat Indiana though.

They don't believe that, just don't want to admit it's Kirby. If you gave every SEC fan on that board a choice between Kirby and Cignetti to coach their team, only a handful of complete morans would choose Cignetti.

You sure about that?
That place is weird

What he's accomplished at Indiana doesn't happen outside the NIL era, but what he's done is still impressive.

I chimed in and will probably get stoned, but gees....117-20 record in the SEC and multi secc and possibly a 3rd natty in the last 5 years? Uh...I think KS gets to wear the badge until someone bests all of that. JMHO

After the speech Deboer gave in support of his QB. I would not want to play them next. I fully expect them to beat Oklahoma by double digits.

Before Cig, the Hoosiers were a laughingstock's laughingstock; they could only aspire to someday become the Washington Generals of college football. He's turned them into a team that is actually relevant in December and January, and he did it quickly.
Is he somewhat overhyped? Yeah. However, the guy still accomplished what many thought was absolutely impossible.

It most likely was impossible prior to free agency. In his two seasons at Indiana, Cignetti's been a successful early adopter of portal mania, particularly quarterbacks. Rourke was a 5th year QB with 3 yrs of prior starting experience at Ohio. Mendoza is a 4th year QB with two prior years starting experience at Cal. The market will adapt and acquiring experience, especially quarterbacks, will get more expensive as more teams join the hunt.
In the end, programs with the most money are gonna accumulate an inordinate amount of both talent and experience. At less fortunate programs, turnover will get even more extreme and outcomes will be wildly variable from year to year.

That's an excellent summation of Indiana's success. Texas Tech, too.

Indiana plays kinda like we do, but they play crappier teams

I think he has a great argument for top 3. What he’s done at Indiana is arguably more impressive than anything any other coach has done.
Doesn’t mean he’s the best coach, but I do think he’s pulled off the most impressive feat of any current head coaches.

Let them have their moment in the sun.
They haven't beat Ohio State since 1988. All of those players weren't even born yet.
And any one who bests Ohio State is doing us all a service.

Cignetti winning the big 10 in year 2 with Indiana shows how easy it is to win in that conference.

They can’t win a three game gauntlet with their composite talent, it won’t happen.
