Not having bama in the playoffs is kind of crazy

The number two team in the sec doesn't make it in? But number 3, 4, and 5 in the sec does. I don't think the committee will make that move
If ND and bama can both make it, that's what they will do. Miami doesn't have the TV viewers or the fan base to make the money needle move

CFB has ALWAYS been about perception and the eye test. Until you force a definitive system like the NFL, teams will inevitably be disappointed or unjustly rewarded.
Alabama has the better record without the conference game, but they have obviously gotten worse.
3 losses with a recent blowout loss. They barely beat a bad, bad Auburn team. They lost at home to Oklahoma. They nearly lost to South Carolina.
Vandy, meanwhile, has only improved over the end of the season.
I agree. The “#2” team in the SEC should be in. If we’re going with a system that defined who that is, then fine. But we’re not.
So who really is the #2 team right now?

They were obviously number two in the conference yesterday. And they split with the conference champs. So how far do they fall in your opinion
You're setting your self up for disappointment if you're hoping bama doesn't get in.
They're good enough for it to be justified. And they make money at the gate and on TV. The teams they're competing with outside of ND don't do that.
Fair or unfair, like it or not, it's about money

I hope the committee leaves Bama out so we can take the 1st step towards ending conference championship games forever.

They are not the number 2 team after getting their doors blown off.

They are only number 2 due to a crazy 4 way tiebreaker rule. It’s not like they were clearly the 2nd best team.
They cannot run the ball at all, not a lick. I say that as an LSU fan so am pretty much an expert at knowing when a team cannot run the ball. They are not very good.

Number 2 team is subjective, since we live in a super conference now. Tie breakers are not settled on field, but rather math formulas. 9 team schedules will help

Yeah, we’re only having this discussion because the morons who run the SEC expanded the conference multiple times without increasing the number of games.

Im pretty sure you saw the last power 5 CCGs yesterday.

I think that, based on the eye test, Alabama doesn’t have it right now. If last night had been close, or if Alabama had gotten better through the last half of the season and last night were just an anomaly, then maybe they would get in. However, when you combine last night with the fact that Alabama has been on the decline since the Tennessee game, I think the committee will have the justification it needs to leave them out.
It’s a shame, because I think the Alabama defense is deserving of a playoff shot. It’s a team game, though, and the offense sucks.

This is a pretty strong argument to debunk the 2nd place component

They will be, so the point is moot.

I remember that committee bumping us from #1 to number 6 after we were #1 all season...

So nonconference losses shouldn’t be considered?

God I hope so
Even the Big 10 Championship game was pretty useless

I think everyone agrees that this Auburn team is pure shite, but to be fair, every game they lost was by one score or less, including 2 in OT, other than UGA which was a 10 point loss.
Yes, record wise Auburn was an embarrassment again, but you had a great defense and lost better than most anyone .

Look at reality. CCGs don’t count, can only hurt you, and are an extra game for player wear and tear, player injuries, targeting explosions etc.
Kim Mulkey’s conference tournament thinking is applicable now to CCGs.

I disagree. I think it helped Georgia

I was posting the same thing last night but have settled into the conference standings and national rankings are two different things. Bama ha the second best record in the SEC but not the best national record compared to OM and A&M.
