Probably the worst thing that could happen just happened if you're on the committee

Total chaos

Indiana knocks off Ohio State
Georgia blows out Bama
Texas Tech hammers BYU
Duke KOs the ACC's chances at the playoffs

So now we have

1. Indiana
2 to 4 Some variation of Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas Tech
5. Oregon
6. Ole Miss
7. Texas A&M
8. Oklahoma

Then you have a massive cluster frick with four spots remaining

Indy, Georgia, Texas Tech take the first three conference champs but the next two will likely have to go to Tulane and James Madison thanks to Duke

That leaves two spots remaining for a number of teams

Alabama
Notre Dame
Miami
Texas
Vandy

Whatever happens, happens. We are where we are because of our play or lack of it. I wouldn't want anything less

Texas and Alabama both have three losses, including a terrible one and a blowout loss. Miami and ND in - easy for the committee

Lesson: don’t get BLOWN THE frick OUT in a CCG.

-3 yds rushing, ouch.

Hard for a committee to overlook that.

ND isnt a remaining team.

ND is automatically in.

The last spot is between Miami and Bama.

ND would have played them better but still lost.

UGA was on a mission tonight

Not that complicated. Notre Dame and Miami are in. Along with Tulane and James Madison

The real story should be how ridiculous conference championship seeding is………Play the two best teams against each other. Period. Or don’t play it at all. The top tiebreaker should be: who has the fewest losses, regardless of if they were in conference

It should have been Miami vs Virginia and Georgia vs Ole Miss

I said before the game, the magic number for Bama was 14. A loss by more than 14 would knock them out. A closer game and they were in, but - 3 yards rushing doesn't look good.

I think we can basically ignore the first 8, that’s going to come down to seeding there.

9-12 is going to result in some serious calls and major threats to the committee members. It’s gonna get ugly. 3 ways this could go, in order of probability.

Don’t be one bit surprised if Duke jumps James Madison. If they don’t, the committee will be under enormous pressure to put Miami in. If they do

Notre Dame 9
Bama 10
Tulane 11
Duke 12

That lets the committee avoid the comparison they’ve avoided and would love to keep doing so

If they don’t, getting Miami in will be vital or the ACC is left out. I don’t think that will happen. In that case

Bama 9
Miami 10
Tulane 11
James Madison 12

Least likely given the SEC will go nuclear if it goes this way.

Notre Dame 9
Miami 10
Tulane 11
James Madison 12

And the committee may love people wanting to watch the games and advertisers to buy ads. If the committee leaves Bama out, how many of your teams want to play in the SEC championship next year of you have 2 losses? How much do any of the bubble teams like seeing Tulane and James Madison taking their spots? Major blow up of the existing playoff format coming up soon.

It’s not that hard. Maybe they spend five minutes discussing whether OSU or UGA should be 2, but they will go with OSU in all probability. The 4-8 seeds stay the same as last week, and 11 and 12 are Tulane and James Madison.

The rest of their time will be spent sorting Bama, ND, and Miami. They are not going to leave Bama out, so the question is, do they move Bama to 10 and put ND at 9, or do they leave Bama at 9, and swap Miami for ND, with BYU having excused itself from the conversation.

This is how it should end up but it won’t. It’ll be bama or ND for the final spot because muh ratings
