After what Cignetti has done, there is no excuse for any coach anywhere to not win

I think Cignetti is why so many coaches got fired mid-season this year. When Cignetti is winning at friggin Indiana with a nobody roaster, other schools now know it’s not roster, facilities or tradition that’s keeping them from winning, it’s crappy coaching……and they’re not wasting time hoping their guy gets better.

He's a great coach. Not every coach can coach like he can. You don't know what you're saying bro.

I think you’re missing my point - how many times have you heard coaches say, we need better facilities, better talent, more money for NIL, etc, etc. Now any excuse a coach gives for not winning, all anyone has to do is point to Cignetti/Indiana. If someone can win there, a coach can surely win at any SEC school.

You play a cupcake schedule...anything is possible. They only played 1 ranked team and that was Oregon before their conference title game. Still not sold on them. They were 11-2 last year and my Irish took them out in the playoffs. They'll fold again when push comes to shove.

Sorry. You're right. I see your point. There's a lot of reasons given but there's no excuse.

This is exactly right. So sick of the low IQ football myth that constantly get pushed as facts by fools.

You don't need four years to succeed

You don't need a roster full of four and five stars to win

He just proves that if you can hire the right coach and put money behind him then any school can become a powerhouse. The days of only the blue bloods winning are dying.

I think Cignetti is a great coach but they also play a shite schedule.

Last year, they only beat two teams with winning records and those were like 7-6 and 8-5.

I think they're better this year, mostly because they probably have the best quarterback in the country.

Are they an older team or a younger team?

Michigan was good a few years ago, but they had over 40 seniors on that team for example.

An experienced team(and good coach, not taking anything away from Cignetti) can be a big advantage.

And they had a decently easy schedule.

copy indiana 99 times. you now have 100 identical teams with identical coaching. make them play each other. 50 of them will lose. do you fire those 50? if there is no excuse, 50 of them just had an inexcusable loss. posts like this are stupid.

Why can't any coach or any person do what he's done, why do you think that's not possible? He's not super human he's just a man like you.

That Indiana team is one of the most resilient teams I’ve seen in a long time. The Penn State game showed all you need to know. That is what a well coached team really looks like. No gimmicks or dicking around. Congrats to you guys.

No one says impossible. But what he has done can’t be done by most coaches.

I hope Lane was watching and took notes. He had it all in Oxford…
