A 5 seed with a home game against a G5 school? Or a 4 seed with a bye to the 2nd round game against the 5/12 winner?

This is the bracket from last year, but the top 4 criteria is different this year.

I feel like a bye helps us with DeBoer at the helm.

We are an XO type of team. More time equals more success.

Under Saban I think the bye would have made us play worse.

Selfishly the 5 seed so I can see a home playoff game.

I think we need the Bye week.

However if we get a bye week and play the winner of 5-12 it’s probably Oregon. Not bad.

If we are 5 we play Tulane, North Texas, James Madison at home? Not to panicked about that.

Would definitely prefer the bye because we're so banged up plus there's no telling who we're going to lose in the meaningless SECCG against a team we've already beaten and will most likely have to play again.

Probably true. I think a bye week would be a much needed recovery after 2 physical games with AU and UGA. However, I think Bama at home in a playoff against a G5 opponent could be a momentum builder.

This proves the playoff system is broken. Absolute joke that these three teams are potential playoff teams.

Yep. But its the ACCs fault.

The playoff committee never guessed the ACC would be so arse that 2 G5 schools would be ranked higher.

We absolutely want a bye and some time to heal right now.

If we get the receivers, Cuevas and Brailsford healthy and some time for Ty to recover everything is in front of us.

Tough sledding if we have to jump into another game so quickly going into a quarterfinal war with UGA (again).

I agree. I’m not saying these guys don’t have good teams but let’s get real. Baring an absolute miracle we beat them by 28 points.

Also the ACC is to blame.

I want the seed where we get a home game and get to play OU again.

That would be nice. We could have extra time to prepare for them like they have us the last two years.

We are so banged up I doubt a week would matter. Keep our routine going and let’s get some confidence and rhythm

I think people think of wrong by calling it a bye week. The playoff calendar is so dumb and spread out that effectively everyone has multiple bye weeks in terms of rest.

My point is I just want the easiest opponents possible. I don’t think the bye itself is much if any benefit, and last year the teams with the bye looked flat and went 0-4.

Good post, my thoughts exactly. One more thing ... more time means more chance to heal, less likely to have additional injurys this late in the season.

(BTW Already, talking heads tonight on WJOX were discussing their interview with the CFP member hinting if Ty gets hurt or Bama blown out, the team may be penalized)

The bye will definently help the teams that have injured players.

If not a bye which I think we get if we win I would want the 5 spot. Could still rest some players and help other players continue to get ready when needed
