Everyone says it’s the loss to FL that is keeping TX out…is that true?

Texas started #1. Lost to Ohio State and dropped to 7. Then lost to Florida and dropped out of the top 25 altogether.

If Texas had been #1 and lost to Florida, where would they have fallen to? My guess is 10-12?

So I would say the first loss to Ohio State had a significant impact on where they currently sit.

Texas this year = Ole Miss last year. We had some great wins but bad losses to teams like Kentucky that kept us out. Texas is the same way this year - great wins over Oklahoma and A&M, but a bad loss to Florida will be the difference.
Y’all will probably be seeded 13-14 when it’s all said and done because of the conference champion automatic bids

Don't think the overtime squeakers against UK and MSU help matters, either.

The loss to Florida is exponentially more damaging than the loss to OSU, but you can’t pretend like the OSU loss didn’t happen either. I think the ATM win kind of erases the OSU loss hence why you sit on the fringe imo.

This team is far too flawed to win the CFP so who gives a shite?

Good grief, if somehow you make it to the college football playoff, you’ll get a chance to prove everybody wrong

But yes, everybody, but you apparently realizes that it’s a loss to a three win Florida team that has the committee looking at you sideways

By your own math, tOSU loss dropped them 6.

Florida dropped them by 20(+).

We’ll wait for you to pencil that out.

All kidding aside, where would Bama be right now if they lost another conference game, even if it was to a better team than Florida?

They wouldn’t be waiting for the CFP to call.

If all of Texas’ losses were to ranked teams, maybe you have a case. When one is an absolute dumpster fire, you don’t.

I don't think we would win the natty anyway so I'm fine with moving on. But last year one of your 3 losses wasn't to the number one team on the road. I think it could be looked at differently.

I think it's important to remember that Texas had a thrilling overtime victory against both Kentucky and Mississippi State in the last month of the season.

IF texas had lost to a team like Ole Miss instead of Florida and IF texas hadn't gone to double overtime against Kentucky and Miss State, they get in the CFP with three losses.

Losing by 7 to #1 Ohio State isn't what is holding you back from getting into the playoffs as a three loss team.

Yes. It was a terrible loss and Texas also almost lost to 2 other terrible teams. Texas also got blown out by UGA and played poorly all year on the road (and they would have to play on the road). Did losing to OSU and thus being a 3 loss team hurt? Sure, but that could be forgiven without all the rest.

It's not about Texas in a vacuum, it's about Texas compared to the other bubble teams. You don't get to be a special snowflake no matter how badly you want to be.

Better question: Say you win the Ohio State game. What other game on your schedule could you have lost (to still be 9-3) and have a case to make for the CFP?

Yes, more so than losing to two Top 4 teams

Lose to Ohio State and drop 6 spots in the rankings

Lose to Florida and drop from 7 to unranked...I'm going to go with the Florida loss carrying more weight here

If Bama would have lost to Auburn it would have been their third loss.

They wouldn't have made it to the SEC CG.

The committee simply does not want a 3 loss national champion.

Since the loss was to the #1 team on the road, Just remove that game and compare your resume to the 2 loss teams. Who do you think TX should be ahead of based on that?

Tossing the OSU game out I might have you in front of ND and Vandy but behind Bama and Oklahoma.

Just looked it up, you played Wake Forest and an FCS team (so not exactly like going to Ohio State week 1) and you had 1 top 15 win, Texas has 3.

So no, that is not the same at all.
