Yes, I agree this will be the norm in the SEC. Simply can't afford an out of conference loss now, and helps Coaches not get fired as quickly.

Yea that isn't what happened at all. We added ECU about a month ago, dropped USF (to 2032) for a FCS game in 2026, added Marshall in 2027. Our next 5 years include 9 games against Florida State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech.

I remember when the Gumps said LSU should not complain about being left out of the playoffs because LSU had a season-opening loss to 2023 Florida State, which may have been the best team in the country before its QB got hurt.

Looks like Alabama will
2026 - Florida State
2027 - Ohio State
2028 - Ohio State and Oklahoma State
2029 - Oklahoma State and Notre Dame
Every year starting after 28 they have two P4 teams on the schedule. Curious to see if they keep doing it.. They had two P4 teams this year as well

Depending on how the committee treats us this year, I see a lot of potential future scheduling changes. Right now there is zero need (and zero reward) to make an SEC schedule any more difficult than it already is.

Ok, that's fair.

Herbie is talking to Saban. He knows what will happen to those future games you are listing as well.

We'll see. I am sure some programs will do just that.
Appreciate the clarity from the gump baws, those tOhioSU games should be great.

No you don’t.
2023 was a 4 team playoff, and LSU wasn’t even ranked inside the Top 10.

In 2023 LSU also lost to Ole Miss and Alabama and had no shot at the playoff. What are you talking about?

There's no reason to play hard OOC games as a Big Ten or SEC team when these committees continue to value the loss column more than anything else. They've bullshitted everyone talking about how SOS is going to be valued, and it clearly is not.

Respectfully, every non-conference P4 opponent we have in the horizon needs to get replaced.

Alabama has not dropped it's tough OOC games.
But they absolutely should. The committee has proven over and over that record is all that matters.

Bama is not dropping the game; they are pushing it back to 2032. The article states it was mutually agreed upon. USF may have requested it since their coach just left for Auburn.

It's frankly insane how, time and time again, Alabama's leadership warns about some looming situation in the sport, their rivals melt the frick down about the warning, and then everything happens exactly as Bama's leadership predicted. Remember how this board almost shut down last year when Bama's AD pointed out the obvious fact that the committee was an abomination for the SEC and they weren't handling strength of schedule correctly, and SEC teams should not schedule OOC games against teams with a pulse (insert FSU deflection here, they are still P4 with talent on the roster)? Well, here we are. Bama and UT would be locks if that had been followed, and the situation is about to get worse.
All of these P4 OOC games should be cancelled for all SEC teams, and we should go back to the 8-game schedule. This is not about Alabama or UT this year; this is about a system that clearly sucks for all 16 of us. It sucked for OM and USCe last year, it will frick your team next year if these nerds have any chance whatsoever to argue an SEC team out of the playoff. That was the entire purpose of the committee: to limit the number of SEC teams in the playoff. It's what I said last year. It's what I would say next year if Bama was 6-6 and it was Auburn on the bubble. It's very simple, what the SEC should universally want: a system, that fully values SOS and SOR. For now, the only way to achieve that other than massively overhauling the entire system is via computers.
