Who is the worst athletic director of the last 30 years? My initial 8 team seeding goes something like this. Who am I missing? Who is too high or too low?

1: Scott Woodward - LSU 2019-2025 - RanThe Pear off; hired McMahon as men’s bball coach, hired Brian Kelly, signed $100 million dollar 90% guaranteed contract

2: Bob Bockrath - Alabama 1996-1999 - forced Gene Stallings to retire, hired Mike Dubose

3. Mike Hamilton - Tennessee 2003-2011 - hired Derek Dooley

4: Hunter Yurachek - Arkansas 2017-present - his first hire was Chad Morris.

5: John Cohen - Auburn 2022-present - hired Hugh Freeze, hired Steven Pearl, has burned bridges at every place he has stopped in life.

6:Scott Woodward - Texas A&M 2016-2019 - hired Jimbo and orchestrated contract

7: Scott Stricklin - Florida 2016-present - hired Billy Napier

8: Mitch Barnhart - Kentucky 2002- present - hired Billy Gillispie

How is Ray Tanner not even on this list?

Woodward made some good non-football hires.

If the reply to that is "no one cares," then I can't disagree with that.

I was about to say, Ray not being #1 is an atrocity.

Football is what matters. Except at Kentucky, there is is basketball.

And Ray Tanner is a solid choice. Is he worse than some of those listed though?

Ray Tanner is #1 and it’s not even close.

Your list is shite.

ETA: I’ll retract what I said, but Tanner is a solid 2 for this list.

Well the fact that LSU fans hate Woodward finally confirms that college baseball and WBB aren't major sports.

Ray Tanner’s two football coaching hires were Will Muschamp and Shane Beamer.

Not great. But neither will ever end up alongside a list of “worst hires” like Chad Morris, Derek Dooley, and Mike Dubose.

Other than falling off in baseball, which happened because Rat Tanner himself retired, what did he do that was so horrible?

Evans and McGarity were cheap bastards for years keeping UGA from reaching it’s potential.

Frankly it's like NFL GMs the decision are so bad, I think fans who watch a lot of college football could draft better than these morons. The UF QB, Anthony Richardson, a few years back was all time stupid and drafting Tebow in the first round also stupid.

Amateurs can do better or at least the same for far less pay.

I think a coin toss may actually make a better decision.

Baseball hires just don’t move the needle much, good or bad.

After Frank Martin got the team to the Final 4 he made things abysmal for him to run him off and hired Lamont Paris for basketball.

It has been a coaching carrousel with baseball. You mentioned the two football hires but don’t give them the credit for being as bad as they really were.

He begged Spurrier to stay when he was wanting to retire after the 2013 season, then Spurrier pulled down his pants and gave us all the bird halfway thru 2014 season.

It was a nepotism hire. He may be great, he may be horrible, but he wasn’t hired as the result of a coaching search to find the best coach. He was hired because he is Bruce Pearl’s son.
