We have no idea if he can coach. Needs to do some high school or small college work at least.
Think of all those Pros that Sanders has gone thru.

No coaching experience, no recruiting experience and most importantly, no incentive to leave his current career path. He's a season or two away from being a premier analyst for ESPN/ABC.

I love Chase. Great player, representative for Mizzou. He obviously knows football and players could benefit from his knowledge. But he’s never coached. It’s one thing to know what to do and another to explain how to know what to do. If he was serious about coaching, I would find a spot on the staff immediately. No way I would hire him as an OC or HC with no experience. QB coach might be interesting.

I feel like we've tried the legacy hired (Odom, Anderson, etc.). It just never ends well.

He was basically the offensive coordinator and ran the QB room for the Bears when they went to the playoffs and at Detroit ..who else are they getting???

You asked a hypothetical question and answered it with certain confidence that it was due to perceived animosity with a previous coach that has been nothing but helpful to Drink, and Drink..who has had Chase at practice and in the building several times...Chase has stated he has no desire to coach anywhere right now...wants to be around his kids, and loves his current football gig, and the easy money that comes with it.
Drink has shown a propensity to hire good coaches and I trust he has a short list in mind once Kirby moves on.

You really think Nagy and Helfrich let a career backup swing that kind of stick? Daniel was there to make sure Trubisky knew all the calls and checks at the line. He was certainly not in charge of game prep and was not involved in play calling.

Yeah. That’s the absolute ceiling for him as an initial hire and I think it’s a stretch. I don’t think he wants to be a coach.

Maybe not on game day but during the prep Daniel was a major part of the brains behind Chicago's offense

You mean the Andy Reid offense that Nagy tried run?

He's on the shortlist ..why not?? Gary Pinkel is going to be more involved .. if there's anyone that can get Drink quicker to the next level than anybody else on campus..it's Gary Pinkel

Andy Reid in an interview with The Athletic literally said Chase should get into coaching. And it's not "swinging that kind of stick", Chase Daniel was in the league longer because of his accumen for the game, not for his production the field. But hey, Navy knows best around here.

Well since Andy said it literally.....and to the Athletic, let's pull him out of the broadcast booth and give him a department head level job with zero experience recruiting and managing an offensive coaching staff.
That that doesn't sound like an idiotic decision at all.

We are Mizzou ... so these types of decisions are SOP

Chase is a program great. He knows ball. None of that means he can just stroll into the building, win in the living room, develop players, and run a staff.
He's 3-4 years as QB coach away from proving he can recruit and develop his room and that he's ready for a G5 OC job. He'd need 1 great year at best and more likely 2 years on that job proving he is ready to manage a P4 offensive staff.

The main question is: Does he want to coach? I haven't seen anything from him indicating he wants to coach. I get the feeling Chase is good with where he's at currently. I know I would be.
