I think the virulent anti-CKD would tank the Iron Bowl if it meant running him off

There, I said it. Downvote away.

It would set the program back five years but hey, we’d have got rid of the soft West Coast infidel who isn’t tough like Bama coaches are supposed to be.

SMFH.

There’s no reason to run DeBoer off at this point. Maybe I’ll feel different if we lose the Iron Bowl, but he’s a good coach and I don’t know who we could realistically hire that is better/more proven.

Kiffin has never even made a playoff and he has plenty of losses on his résumé.

DeBoer isn’t west coast. He’s born and raised in South Dakota and those folks are anything but soft. Just imagine playing football in that frozen hell hole environment where it snows up to a giraffe arse.

Anyone that wants to play football in that part of the country is a pretty tough MF. But you’re right half these sissy got the biggest man crush on Kiffin only because he does something cute on X. Kiffin w/l record against top 10 & 5 teams isn’t even remotely close to what DeBoer has accomplished

We could win out and win both the conference and NC this year, and there will be some on this board who will complain because we didn't run the ball well enough and we lost a couple of games along the way.

And sadly, those same people would cry hard for Kiffin to "save us" yet would be the first to turn on him when he pulls a Kiffin by shitting the bed against Kentucky...

Kiffin about to no show on his team to take a job somewhere else. He’s done something like this before too.

I also would not run him off regardless of how this year ends.

But he absolutely must fix the running game. No, I'm not saying we have to have a run heavy offense, or produce Heisman Trophy winning running backs.

But the running game has to be at least competent. This year it has been historically bad.

Just because we win a national championship...which is highly unlikely with an utterly incompetent running game...doesn't mean that he shouldn't be expected to fix the running game.

This would just be alts and trolls. I hope CKD is successful in the long run here and I believe in giving a coach time to get his culture and systems fully implemented, but there have been material coaching mistakes last year and this year that are at least somewhat concerning.

I said at the beginning of his tenure that I would at least give him 3+ full seasons with 3 different starting QBs before making a final judgement (so if Ty comes back, guess it will be 4 full seasons before his 3rd starting QBs). I still will but if he loses this IB, it will be hard to climb out of back to back 9-3 seasons with no playoffs.

Ironically, if we had a 16 team playoff, we would have made it both years and things would probably feel a lot different.

This thread makes no sense.

You think people would put the program back 5 years rather than wait out DeBoer - because of his . . . toughness?

He will win a lot (sooner rather than later). First year was keeping players (this ain’t the old days - he had to), the next two years is about building a team to consistently win and compete for championships.

The old Saban ways are gone forever. Saban knew it and left.

Saban’s first year was shite and the next year, the team wilted at the end - actually got their asses handed to them (some may call it weak).

I’ll take things that didn’t happen for $1k, Alex.

We were ahead of a Tebow led FL team for the SECCG and NC shot in “the next year.” Tebow made some crazy plays down the stretch to win that game including a perfectly placed ball in the end zone despite extremely tight coverage.

Right! That 4th qtr was a depth issue. They certainly didn’t get “their asses handed to them”.

That game turned on a 15 yd facemask penalty where we barely touched the guys facemask.

I think there are some people here ... a few people here ... who if they aren't trolls from another fanbase really would do this to get rid of DeBoer.

For a while yesterday I thought about coming here and saying I may have went a little too far, but no I stand by what I said.

And the problem is that there's an element of our fan base that never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever will be believed or be convinced that the old Saban ways are gone forever, and I agree with you that Nick knew it and went to the house because of it.

They're convinced that it all it will take is the right person coming in as coach and the right knight in shining armor riding in on a white horse to change all this folderol that has put players in practically a co-equal position to coaches to bring those old ways back.

Who would you get better than DeBoer...with Florida, LSU, Auburn, Penn State jobs open.....you would get some second rate coordinator and send the program on a doom spiral for a decade,

Idiot

I think this coaching search saga with Kiffin teasing everyone on social media should put to rest any takes about how he's matured.
