Christmas around the corner, I need some suggestions.
Looking at binoculars for when I sit in the upper deck at Jordan Hare. For the ones that have experience, do you prefer 8x42 or 10x42?
The 8 give you more of a field
Of view, but the 10s will get you a closer look.

Probably 8. Being fine tuned to a highly local sight picture but not getting to see the rest of the sporting event would probably get under my skin.

I use my binoculars when fishing. If another boat is catching fish and I’m not I peek over and see what there set up is.
I bet Lanier downvotes the hell out of this post.

Why would you want a better view of the product on the field?

The west upper deck is a ways off from the student section. Hard to see the coeds in their sundresses without some help

8x binoculars are significantly easier to hold steady than 10x. Image stabilizing binoculars would negate that problem though. I would go with the 8x just for the larger field of view and being able to track a play. But to be honest viewing a football game through binoculars seems like a tough deal unless you have some serious eye problems that would require that.

Keep in mind that the "clear bag policy" prohibits binocular bags.

I use 10x for bird watching but imagine 8x would give you a better view of the overall field and play if that's what you're using them for.
Would also recommend looking into a harness to replace the neck strap. Leaving any decent sized binoculars hanging from your neck for several hours is uncomfortable af.

I’ve grown up in the Upper Deck of JH watching the game with my grandpa in the 80’s.
We used to watch the game with binoculars before the big Jumbotron. Nostalgia

I feel ya here. Grandfather would do the same in the 90's. Honestly though usually used them more after plays to see who the people that made the play were or see who was subbing in more than watching the actual play on them. Or like seeing if a spot would be a first down and stuff like that, before the massive screens and everything.

Section 6, 50 yard line, Florida game next year.
Leave the binoculars in your hunting bag.
Who's with me?

I second the vortex. Hard to beat for the price point. Go to an Academy or Bass Pro and try out the 8's vs the 10x looking to the other side of the store. It will give you a better feel in person.
