If we somehow win at Auburn and then lose the SECCG. That’s what I take from tonight. FML. DeBoer and staff will be on shaky ground if we miss out on the playoff again this season. That week one loss was so bad in many ways.

True. But, be prepared to be downvoted to hell.

Win out and we don’t have to worry about the Committee, though. Or something.

I don’t think the staff should be on shaky ground for 10-3 with wins over Auburn, UT, LSU, and Georgia.

I think the current playoff system is stupid, and I wish the SEC would just add enough programs to make its own league completely separate from the FBS.

The B1G leadership is trying to destroy CFB with private equity deals and 24 team playoffs with 16 auto bids. We dominate that conference in ratings, so I don’t see why we even bother dealing with them.

Damn, people … the gloom on this board since Saturday has been so thick you could scoop it with a spoon.

Why don’t we see how it plays out before we start turning around in the floor saying “Woe is me?”

Beating Auburn in Jurdin Hare at night may be more difficult than beating AM in Atlanta.

Fair enough.

I’d like to see us rush for 500 yards and hang 70 on Eastern Illinois, this Saturday, just to be a smart arse to the Committee.

I think that's exactly what will happen. But when Alabama gets shafted despite the precedent being set last yr just because this committee wants to move the goalposts now I won't be too angry. The dumbasses are already talking about Alabama's lack of a running game being held against us. It's pretty obvious this committee doesn't want Alabama involved unless they absolutely have no choice.

Yep. We’re being punished for all of the years of winning under Saban. That’s all it boils down to. That and national media hating us for political reasons.

You're assuming other teams wont lose in the next two weeks

That’s pretty much the entire reason why we have the playoff and a selection committee, now, anyway.

We always seemed to play better in the SECCG in 2021 and 2023 after barely beating Auburn at JHS.

After the way the offense has looked most of the year scoring 70 points would be like a cleansing rain on a hot summer day. No matter who the opponent is.

Bama has much more power in the situation than they utilize.

I'd love to see the reaction to a real threat of going independent. ESPN and their new SEC contract without Bama. We could play who we wanted and maybe not get screwed over by the conference year after year with scheduling.
People worry about the TV money with ESPN but we'd get money from elsewhere and wouldnt have to share it with other conference schools.

It seems to work for Notre Dame.

Posted in another thread, but I'm reposting here.

Obviously, the best path to the Playoff and the one I hope we are on, is to win out. But there is still a path if Alabama loses the SECCG and it looks like this:

If everyone ahead of us wins out the regular season and we lose a competitive game to A&M

1. Ohio State (13-0)
2. Texas A&M (13-0)
3. Georgia (11-1)
4. Indiana (12-1)
5. Texas Tech (12-1)
6. Ole Miss (11-1)
7. Oregon (11-1)
8. Oklahoma (10-2)
9. Notre Dame (10-2)
10. Georgia Tech (11-2)
11. Alabama (10-3)
12. Tulane (10-2)

Just outside will be:

BYU and Utah - Behind Alabama already. Would be their CG loser.

Miami - Already behind us, no ranked opponents left, and almost 0% chance of making their conference champ game.

Vanderbilt - We beat them head to head

Michigan and USC - Three losses, not a chance.
____________________________________________

Here are the only scenarios that could possibly knock a 3-loss Bama (with the third loss being in the SECCG) out:

Michigan beating Ohio State would make me nervous because at the end of the year, you would have a 10-2 team that beat the likely Big 10 Champ just sitting there, versus a 10-3 Alabama, who had to play an extra game.

USC beating Oregon would cause some chaos and put us in a 3-way battle between two 10-2 teams, and a 10-3 Alabama that, again, had to play an extra game.

Texas Tech losing in the Big 12 CG. Whoever they lost to would be in and Texas Tech would also likely be an at-large. That's where Notre Dame being ahead of us stinks, because it would likely come down to us against them, and we had to play an extra game.

Based on the eye test, I think that all of those games will go chalk. Imagine the reaction if Ryan Day were to lose to Michigan for a fifth consecutive season.

I like the idea. The SEC hates our program and so does ESPN. ESPN openly roots for us to lose every week. They’ve demonized our program. I’d love to see the reaction if we were to go independent like Notre Dame.
