…if he does in fact decide to leave. This would be the ultimate slap in the face but totally on brand for Kiffin.

Well yeah. Why would he be allowed to stay and recruit his players for several weeks?

In theory, because you would be in the hunt for a championship. No offense, but that doesn’t happen often at Ole Miss.

I lived in Loganville for two years and I quickly learned that Georgia fans are some of the stupidest people I’ve ever met. I believe you really are a UGA Alum.

Ole Miss has a 97% acceptance rate. You let people that get a 19 on the ACT into your school.

UGA has a 35% acceptance rate. You’re in no position to claim that anyone else is stupid.

And I’m not surprised that you don’t live in Mississippi because that state is uninhabitable.

Pete Golding as interim head coach for the playoffs could be comedy gold

"You know what... I feel really bad for Lane leaving Ole Miss in the lurch like that. Leaving before the playoffs. That's low, even for Lane. He did the same thing to us at Alabama when he was offensive coordinator. That's why I've agreed to come out of retirement for the duration of this years playoffs and be the head coach of the University of Mississippi." - Nick Saban

No. No you aren’t. You aren’t hearing anything of the sort. You are reading message boards.

There is a potential plan for this scenario. Joe Judge would be the interim. Coordinators would stay in place.

It's an unlikely scenario but it would essentially trash the 2026 season, one in which Ole Miss potentially returns a lot of talent, if Lane were to sign with UF/LSU but keep coaching Ole Miss with the portal window. It could also affect Florida's portal class negatively. If a coach decides to not follow Lane to Florida/LSU, they'd likely be recruiting against Lane for the players they coach. You can see how messy all of the could get.

It's why Lane to the NFL is more likely this season than Lane to UF/LSU.

I think you are misguided.

Ole Miss would not let him coach if he’s not staying.

And it’s the correct move by them.

We aren't cucks. No extension, no playoffs. He can go to Gainesville for about 3 years.
