Shula. In fact, Bama’s rushing attack in 2025 is worse than every other Bama team, over past 25 years…save 2006. O Line can’t create holes - and Running Backs have the inability to find a hole. Many times, I have watched Miller hit the hole called, when there was an opening elsewhere…and he just couldn’t find it. One dimensional teams will struggle to win championships.

I don't think we've ever seen a team this bad at running the ball win a national title in my lifetime, so I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised but I wouldn't bet the house on it.

I don’t even know that the backs are the problem. Haynes went to Michigan and immediately looks great

Jam runs hard and has buttery soft hands

Generally the offensive line creates zero holes. And even in the miraculous event there is one, the RBs don't see it

It is a huge problem. We cannot control any game like this.

I’m not seeing that, at least not for several games now. Just dances and tiptoes. Now a lot of plays he’s got little room, but even when he has some space he does it.

Exactly that!!! Not many hole’s opening up and Jam’s vision is certainly lacking.

We clearly are not a running team anymore, we haven't been for years. I have no idea why we try to force it so much. The vast majority of our run plays are absolute waste.

Id much prefer giving Ty and our receivers more chances.

I prefer old-school smash mouth football but we're in a different era and almost all our failed drives have terrible run plays as their central point of failure.

Again, a competent running game is an essential part of DeBoer’s and Grubb’s offense if it’s to run at peak efficiency. We don’t have anything close to one right now. But even if it’s clicking on all cylinders it’s never going to be the kind of running game that pleases the joyless murderball/make their asses quit crowd.

Our 2nd and 1 or 2 type situations are the worst. We are exceptionally awful in short yardage when it's clear we will run. We fail to convert the first down probably half the time, we usually lose yardage at some point, and if we do convert it usually takes a 4th down and we make it by sn inch. It's painful how terrible we are in short yardage.

Worst since 2006. Even in 04/05 under Shiula when we were abysmal on offense we could at least run the ball

Absolutely no chance of that happening if we can’t either develop a consistent deep passing game or run the ball competently.

Were a one trick pony right now on that side of the ball and it simply isn’t going to scale against CFP teams consistently.

I believe our OL is the root of the problem. They simply aren't creating any holes/lanes. The play calling isn't helping them either. What little running game exists seemingly is on the outside.

Call more runs outside of the guards outside shoulder.

DeBoer’s and Grubb’s running game when at full efficiency prioritizes the perimeters.

Is it though? I didn't think Grubb ran the ball much previously. I haven't looked up any stats though...

They had a pretty good run scheme at UDub but it was a complimentary run game. They did have a game or two where they ran all over some teams though. Their 2023 team had a ~1200 yard rusher in 15 games. So ~80 ypg on the ground from their starting tailback. How many times has that happened in almost two seasons here?

Frankly, we aren't seeing that scheme here because our linemen are not good at pull and cross blocks as a unit. Our center is our best at executing pull blocks but it is hard to build a run plan around a center pulling a ton.

It’s mostly the scheme IMO. We have talent to run the ball. We have the OL and the RBs.

Right now the best run plays are WR jets and runs to the outside. If folks can control the edge, it’s tough sledding.

It's certainly the worst designed and schemed rushing offense I've ever seen. We never, ever just fire out and blow people off the line of scrimmage. Whatever happened to hat on hat drive blocking?
