Last week without espn and abc wasn't a big deal, now it's looking like I'll miss the game this weekend.
I don't want to sign up for yet another TV subscription, and where I live, I can't pick up ABC using an antenna.

I had figured that the greed of Disney and Google would have been sorted out by the LSU game, but I assumed incorrectly, it appears.

Yo ho ho. Just get a $20-45 Onn box from Walmart. The main difference between the boxes are how fast they run. The $45 also has a remote finder feature. They're honestly worth it even if you're just running Netflix or Disney+.

Install 'Downloader" browser from the Google Play store. And you can use that browser to install whatever apps on your streaming box.

Looking at it right now, it has 48 football games scheduled (2 of them Canadian football) through Saturday and 130 basketball games just for today. But with basketball, it's also Euro league (got to watch Big Cliff's team yesterday), Russian, Finnish, Estonian, German, Latvian, and NBA.

I use a version where someone removed all of the ad stuff and other bullshite. So I don't even go to the actual site.

Here are some download links. They're only good for 24 hours, so after 1030 Saturday morning, don't bother trying.

This is a download link for Android phones:

Or the tiny url:

Here's a link for Android TV devices or smart TVs.

Here's the setup guide for Android TV devices. But in downloader, instead of the download code in the guide, enter the tiny url address exactly as it's typed above.

I don’t think the Sling Day Pass includes local channels (ABC, Fox, CBS, NBC).

I'm still rolling with Directv so I have no issues, but I wonder how difficult it would be to use these little pirate boxes people suggest. We have 3 TVs at the house we'd want to watch games on.

From everything I've read YTTV isn't budging anytime soon. I went ahead and cancelled it and signed up for ESPN Plus app which gives you all the ESPN's and ABC for $29/month and you can cancel anytime. I'm going this route and if/when YTTV gets it worked out with Disney I'll assess to see if the new price is worth me subscribing back on. I highly doubt it though. I'm not paying a penny more than what I was before I cancelled. I'm just fed up with the bullcrap.

Disney ran into a company where live television is a rounding error of their business so they can afford to burn the MFer down to prove a point. Disney is probably going to get hurt by this more than Google and Google knows it.

Yep, there are several articles out there that explain how this is going to hurt Disney waaaay more than Google. It is in Disney's best interest to settle some deal with YTTV rather than nothing at all.

We just bought an antenna for inside the house to get over-the-air stations (ABC). Works great. Ordered it Wednesday off Amazon, got here at 4:15 a.m. Thursday morning. I'm not bowing to Disney and their shenanigans. They want people to move to HULU and FUBO which they own. I'm sticking with YTTV.

I'd do the antenna thing if I could pick up any channels, but I can't.

Cool. Good to know I had the right read on it. Dawned on me when it got to Monday Night Football and no deal was reached by the next day. CFB never moves the meter with the cable providers like NFL.

People think of Disney and Google are peers when Google probably has the cash on hand top purchase Disney outright. Disney's market capitalization is ~6% of Alphabet/Google's.

As long as YTTV has Sunday Ticket, this isn't an existential crisis for their product. They can take the hit on subscriber bleed in the short term because their product is superior to Fubo or Hulu live TV options. They're going to break the mouse and I'm sure Comcast, Charter, and Cox are delighting in this greatly ("damn I wish that was me.").

You can probably find a long range antenna to pick up ABC.

How far are you away from the nearest stations? You can check here:

Ironically, I'm not far from the towers, that are in mainly the downtown areas of Birmingham,. The problem is that my house sits in somewhat of a valley "over the mountain ".

If you're looking to get a vsee box, there's a couple people here that have recommended them. But having done some basic research on Reddit, people who issue are recommended to contact their reseller, and a lot of posts asking for good resellers. So it sounds like you want to be careful where you're buying it from. Maybe some guys here can steer you to someone reliable.

But I just don't see the point in paying $350 for a $50 box with software preloaded. Free sports feeds are easy to find. But I pay $3-4/month for a bootleg cable deal (technically, all digital cable, legal like YouTube TV or pirated, is called an IPTV).

I think it's worth it setup your own box. You save hundreds per box, and I'm at the point I can set one up in 20-30 minutes.

Things also get shut down. These boxes aren't going to work forever. I've lost count of the number of websites, apps, and IPTV services I've seen shut down over the last couple of decades. And if the word is out on something, it inevitably becomes a target. The smart ones disappear before they get raided.

For 3 TVs, you could get 3 solid devices, lifetime use of best IPTV player on up to 5 devices, and a year on an IPTV for like $250 instead of $1000. And you can stream every movie or TV show made on them for another $40-50/year. But, you can still just get a $50 box and install free apps. But the pay ones are usually higher quality. But I've also seen great free feeds too.

I was in the middle of midtown Mobile and I could pull a signal from rabbit ears to save my life. And it was a decent powered antenna. I swear, they've turned down the signal power vs 20 years ago.

If you get something that includes ESPN 3, then you're good.

Fubo has a 5 day free trial. I signed up last week and decided to keep it for the time being.
