shot, they’ll lose players to the portal, and still won’t get Kiffin.
Whew

Programs are committing suicide out of anger.
You don't just bounce back in this collection of 16 teams.

I tend to think this about all of these programs. Not sure when it became trendy to fire mid-season. With the portal in-place and early signing in December, you run the risk of a failing on your big targets and losing your best guys to the highest bidder.

They’re melting this bad now, imagine how bad it will be when we land him!

regardless of whether they were counting on being able to get Kiffin, BK had to go when he did because he'd lost the team, he'd lost the fans, and game attendance was about to plummet if he remained at the helm and they knew it would get a LOT uglier very quickly if they didn't fire him now

They could have kept Kelly till the end of the season, which would help retain the recruiting class, maybe help retain some of the players that might hit the portal, and saved some of the buyout.
Now they got no AD, no coach, no clue.
Some brilliant people running that place.

In Auburn’s defense they committed program suicide two firings ago when they made the Gus Bus roll out of town.

Personally I don't care. My team is good. I just think you guys are delusional.

Tell us more about Sumlin and Fisher.

Sounds like an Alabama can't lose thread to me

What has kind of surprised me is how well LSU's recruiting class has stayed together thus far. It shows that BK wasn't involved in any of the recruiting though...

I am more amused at all the smoke being blown that Saban is coming back…

Thanks for your Provost, and your continued interest in LSU athletics.

If they beat Bama Saturday, the firing was good timing.

As opposed to the risk of losing those same big targets to keep a lame duck head coach around that everyone would be bad mouthing anyway?
The risk is the same, either way.

Those recruits and current players would have been able to change their minds after Kelly was fired after the season anyway.

This is true, but when a single donor fronts the cost to cut bait then, you do it.

The first domino to securing an AD and coach fell today when LSU named its next President.
LSU's roster and recruiting class will take a hit. There's no doubt about that. But you don't make coaching decisions based on what 17-18 years olds might do. Find the right coach, weather the storm next year, and throw a bunch of money at a roster for 2027.
