Gunner Stocton grew up wanting to be the starting quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs, but he was willing to risk it all – career, reputation – because him and his buddies bet some money on Georgia not to cover.

Scoring a touchdown there was the only way for Florida to have a shot to win. A long shot, but if he runs that in, Florida could theoretically score a TD, get the two, onside kick, and kick a FG to send it into OT.

By kneeling on the one, UGA only needed to kneel on the ball because Florida had no timeouts. Kneeling it down ended the game.

The person in the tweet see's everything in terms of the spread because they are gamblers and think every loss is a conspiracy against them.

They are projecting their view on things. I don't gamble, don't give a shite what the spread is. And for some reason, the answer as to "why" is obvious to me.

It's because it ends the game with a win.

The mainstreaming of sports gambling is killing sports discussion. People have always gambled and discussed point spreads and bad beats, but now it is at the forefront of the discussion.

Seriously?

That was textbook, high-quality clock management.

It happens in the NFL all the time. Oklahoma’s running back did the same thing against Tennessee.

Alabama talked about it in their game against you guys. Bernard specifically stated that he had the greenlight to score instead of going down to set up a walk off field goal attempt. Your guy letting him score was the play to try and counter that strategy.

When you see a post like the one you linked, all that tells you as those people bet the over and are pissed they didn’t get a back door cover.

Also prevents any possible injuries on the defense when Florida is trying to score.

Yep, we had already lost two defensive starters due to injury in that game, and one due to a targeting penalty that was suspect by the way.

Go to 14:30 in this video:

The OU running back kneels inside the one to keep the clock going. OU punched it in on the next play. They promptly gave up a score and then had to defend an onside kick.

UGA went to victory formation.

The players/coaches don't give a shite about your degenerate gambling habits.

It was the obvious play to secure a win by kneeling the clock out rather than put the ball in the hands of Florida to try to find a couple miracles to win the game.

If you saw it any other way, you should seek help.

You can always tell the people that have never been an athlete. shite like that never crosses the mind of a real competitor in a game.

Ah, yes. Mr. Gimme Vaughan knows more about being a competitor than an athlete and competitor than a UGA QB.

Anyone who needs this play explained to them is either a gambling addict or incoherently bad at math.

Scoring there would have been fricking stupid

Kneel down and win game 100% or score and give them 2 minutes to score and get a onside kick

Falcons lost a game from stupid shite like that a few years back, and Cristobal lost one for Miami not long ago either

Earlier this year I believe it was Indiana who got an intentional safety to ice the clock and their QB apologized to spread bettors after the game
