During the Texas/ Vandy game, Pavia took off and was tackled on the sideline. When the play continued out of bounds for several yards, the announcers (McElroy and Sean McDonough) were outraged by the play and kept saying how that was a 15-yard penalty against Texas.

I watched it, and I saw Pavia grab the Texas defender's jersey and pull him out of bounds with him and on top of him.

This was so obvious, and the announcers never even mentioned it. I googled it, and I also saw no commentary about this.

Am I crazy? Here's the link: Vandy Texas- Pavia's Run

I'm sure others have mentioned it, although I can't seem to find it, but I just wanted to get your guys' take.

Smart, tricky play by Pavia, but...man...I just don't like that guy.

I watched it live and the announcers did seem to notice it a little after the review. One guy, i think Greg McElroy, mentioned Pavia was a wrestling champ.

It definitely looked like Pavia tried to hip toss the DB, or bring him down on top of him for the penalty. Pavia is a heel.

I saw what Pavia did, but #19 for Texas came in and pushed his teammate (#17 the tackler), in the back while out of bounds. This made it look like that #19 was at fault.

The crowd is booing but he tackled him at the concession stand" is what the announcer was saying over the replay. The same moment where number 17 has BOTH arms out showing he's not tackling Pavia...Pavia is dragging him down.

Gmac is about as bad as you can get on a broadcast and still be employed. He says some of the dumbest shite imaginable considering by all accounts he is a really smart guy. The only guy currently that I can think of that’s worse is Tessatore.

I'm not sure Pavia could have pulled him down from that position. Certainly looks like the Texas defender still has his arms on him. I have no issue with the call.

As a rule of thumb, Texas is always going to get every call. Whether that's saying a runner with his entire foot on the boundary wasn't out of bounds in the Cotton Bowl against Alabama in 1973, changing the clock rules to give them an extra play in the Big XII championship in 2009, changing the conference rules to avoid their feelings getting hurt by the Horns Down gesture, or waving off a pass interference because their fans didn't like it against Georgia in 2024. I can guarantee you that if the refs had seen any reason to doubt the call and help Texas, they would have found it.

I was in the fourth grade during that 73 Cotton Bowl. I was one angry and devastated kid after that game.
We went from being undefeated and up 16-3 against the Boogs and loosing, and would have been playing Texas for the national championship. But instead got ripped off by the no call and finishing the season to what seemed to most people as a total disappointment.

Pavia and his family are scum. His brother has been arrested at every game. Literally. He was thrown out of the stadium yesterday in Austin.

Might want to go back and listen again. Greg mentioned Pavia being a former wrestler and both he and Sean mentioned as they replayed it, how it looked like Pavia grabbed the tackler and pulled him down into the bench.

Try flipping over to some Big 10 games and listening. Trust me, you'll find way worse than McElroy. They need to send Tessitore to Fox and bring Mark Ingram to ESPN.

What is so bad about Greg? Got any examples of him saying the "dumbest shite imaginable" that you are claiming that he says? Thanks.

I agree, McElroy is really bad. They should put McElroy with Tessitore and Palmer with McDonough
