The game has changed so much since Pruitt last coached a dominant D. Assuming he can just replicate the things he did back then with a team stocked with 1st rounders in the 2 deep is just not realistic

I'm not asking him to replicate, but I bet he could teach these guys fundamentals to fit the run

I think he could probably figure it out, but you're right. A lot has changed in 10 years.

I'd personally be happy just having a defense that attacks the offense again, instead of read & react.

What does that mean? Reading what the opponent is doing and reacting to it is central to the game of football.

Deboer has no relationship with Pruitt. Doubt it ever happens.

Article made it sound like Pruitt had multiple offers to coach in the state of Alabama over the years

Even if he can't recreate it the defense won't look like straight wimps and getting run over. Do we even practice tackling?

Go look what Pruitt has done to defenses since like 2010. They all sky rocketed in defensive performance/statistics. Don’t give a frick what kind of relationship CKD has with Wommack, if Pruitt is eligible and available we should bring him onto the staff.

Edit: Will give credit to Wommack and company, they have nutted up when we have needed them most. Though I do think another coordinator with SEC-level experience would have us looking borderline dominant.

Even if that were true, Pruitt could work 1/2 day a week and coach blindfolded on Saturday and still be better than this 2nd-tier-Sunbelt product we have, now.

Bring him in to coach DL or LB. Let him get acclimated, learn the personnel and the opponents. Then hand him the reigns in a couple years.

We're 25th in total defense, 21st in scoring defense, 3rd in turnover margin, and 3rd in red zone defense. We held the #2 offense in the country that averages 44 points a game to 20 points. What the frick are you talking about?

Do some of you even watch the games? Or understand what you’re watching? Alabama has a pretty damn good defense.

I guess it’s just edgy and cool to hate on Wommack, or any DC Alabama rolls out there not named Smart or Pruitt.

Our defense has two scores in two games and arguably the reason we won the last two games.

Not to mention holding off UGA in the 2nd half while our O scored 0 points

We could have easily been 3-2 instead of 5-0 down this stretch if it weren’t for the defense.

I can agree with that but it's not like these coaches haven't been around coaches with significant college and NFL experience.
