Video of the questionable action, submitted to the National Coordinator by the Southeastern Conference office, occurred with 12:55 remaining in the game after Arkansas completed a pass for a first down just outside the Texas A&M 10-yard line. After the ball is spotted by officials, No. 7 for Texas A&M goes to the ground, creating the appearance of an injury. Just prior to the player going down, a Texas A&M staff member can be seen in the video standing in the team area near the 25-yard line signaling demonstratively to the player, pointing to the ground. It was noted that the Texas A&M player had no contact during the play and returned to the game on the second play of the ensuing defensive possession.

Should warrant multiple game suspension for the player, coach who signaled, and head coach.

It was with 12:36 left in the 4th when the clock stopped. He went down after the ball was spotted so pretty stupid move by aggie. Nice to know the new rule caught it as intended and forced aggie to take a timeout.

We absolutely should be fined. That was the pussiest ole-miss-style move and frankly couldnt believe my Ags were pulling it.

Our CB never even TOUCHED anyone
on the play and
honestly jogged over to the play. then turned to the bench and had some kind of confused communication. next thing, he's lying on the ground.

$50,000 aint enough.

[ oh I just saw video posted. i was homestly going to post about this but firgot]

If coaches can get away with faking for a free timeout, players shouldn’t be treated differently.

It's embarrassing for the school and the fans. I'm so glad I've never seen LSU pulling that shite

I thought you might say it should be a felony offense, with no chance of early parole. 10 years to life. And eleventy billion in fines to Texum Ayeundem.

How did no Arkansas fans catch this? Y'all are usually on top of the officiating.

Coaches, yes. Player, no.

The player is just doing what he is told. He says no and gets benched.

This was coaches decision. The player is just a pawn following orders.

Lol…you either a liar or just plain ignorant. One or the other. Texas has a long history of cheating and other violations, even under Saint Royal. However, the coach that pulled that stunt ought to have it docked from his pay. The refs were trying to give the game to the hogs anyway.

Nice soft launch of this penalty for the league.

Now sure serial offenders can be forewarned!

I'm all for the fine and punishment.

But dear god I swore I've seen this at least 10 times this year.

Nothing like selective prosecution.

Just to clarify, there was no free timeout. A&M was charged a timeout because of it. That's why there were no Arky fan complaints about it.

The real tell will be to see how evenly and how often this rule gets applied. When blue bloods of the sport get assessed then we will know it's for real. And even then, there's so much in a football game that goes unnoticed because it's a fast paced, dynamic sport. Teams and players get away with a lot, as long as they don't get caught.

Teams and coaches are known to say and do whatever to win. Saban hated the HUNH offense, until he bought himself a copy of it. And he was against it, in the name of player health. I bet his earlier teams feigned plenty of injuries when facing HUHN offenses.

"Four years ago, Saban tried to take down the entire revolution when he said of hurry-up offenses, "Is this what we want football to be?" Alabama's coach cited health concerns over plays being run too fast.

Now Saban is the one trying to run defenses off the field with the tempo he once despised, tongues dragging.

"It works well for us," the coach said Saturday, almost shrugging. "It's when we play the best."
