Florida isn't a better job than Ole Miss or Missouri

Kiffin and Drink are both paid $9mil. Napier was at $7.3. Some of that is timing of the contract, but the money won't be better at Florida.
MU and Ole Miss have demonstrated they have the booster support to pay for top tier rosters and assistants.
Kiffin and Drinkwitz are the singular voice of their programs. No meddling boosters who think they should be the decision makers.
The NIL era has ushered in a new paradigm. We saw it with Cignetti and we will continue to see it. "Blue Blood" programs with sky high and immediate expectations aren't as desirable as they once were.
Convince me. Why is Florida the better job? Your answer shouldn't include anything about the accomplishments of Steve Spurrier. Today's recruits weren't alive for that.
**Update**
You all are wildly unconvincing. Most of the contrary arguments fell into one of 2 buckets:
1. Florida is better because it's the University of Florida!!! Thanks for that analysis.
2. Florida is better because it won national championships in '96, '06 and '08. Sorry to p!ss in your cheerios, but a program's success 20 and 30 years ago is way down on the list of basic coach priorities. How much are you paying me and my staff? What are your facilities like? Does your program give my players a platform to develop and advance to pro football? Like it or not, Florida isn't ahead of OM or MU on any of those priorities.

You're underestimating the massive talent advantage they have just being based in the state of Florida. Even the "bad" gator teams are full of NFL level talent. The right coach who is able to take advantage of that will be better off than almost any other program in the country.

You can’t buy this. Huge factor IMO.

Only thing better would be living in Florida.

UF can pay at the top of the market value if it needs to. UF also shouldn't overpay coaches for the sake of appearances. If Napier deserved to make more money, he would have.

Something like this was my first thought, among other reasons why FLA should be the better job.

It is wild how many people are still stuck in the 2005 mindset with recruiting.

Florida had 3 NCs in the past 30 years. I hate them but they are absolutely a better a job and only a fool would not think so.

The coast is awesome, everybody knows that.
Inland sucks.

It all depends on how much money the boosters will spend on players. You cannot go by what Florida has been spending - it is what they will spend if they like the new coach.
The geographical advantage probably doesn't make much of a difference anymore.

Better job currently? Maybe, maybe not. Florida is a superior program and with the right coach running things....you're statement becomes more silly.

-Bigger stadium, though I seem to remember hearing the ancillary facilities at UF are lacking
-Better recruiting territory; I know $ is the deciding factor for recruits in general, but offer me a million to live in FL or a million in Either of the other places, and the scales probably tip to the sunshine state.
-Perception that you can win a championship because it has been done before by more than one coach; like it or not, this matters to coaches, recruits, and the media
-Name/brand recognition- this ties into the last point; some programs are higher profile; this leads to more exposure, more opportunity for non-school based NIL (think Arch and the Warby Parker deal)
I don’t think there’s any question that Missouri and Mississippi are both currently better teams than Florida. Maybe over time the old perceptions shift, but I don’t think we’ve reached that point.

Cig is absolutely going to be dealing with sky high expectations now that he is at the top of the coaching pay scale. Lea at Vandy will get a big pay bump and face the same thing.

This was the end of the discussion before NIL and the Portal. But now Mizzou and Ole Miss are stacked with talent as well. And both programs have fans who are willing to shell out cash to bring talent to Oxford and Columbia. Mizzou has its most talented team by composite in its history - and yes - credit to Drink, but the bigger factor is a potent NIL spend. High school recruiting grounds simply don’t matter as much as they used to in terms of assessing potential roster strength.

I am an Ole Miss fan and even I know that Florida is a better job than Ole Miss.
But you are doing it wrong.
Napier made what he made because of his level of coaching experience not because Florida can’t pay someone.
Here’s how you know which job is better: Ole Miss and Florida are both open and need a coach. Lane is at another school. Which job does Lane take in that scenario?
But unfortunately for Florida it’s not a level playing field. Lane is at Ole Miss. So even though Florida is a better job than Ole Miss, it needs to offer much than that. Lane is giving up a much more secure job to take the job at Florida.
Granted I have no doubt that Lane could easily repeat at Florida what he has done at Ole Miss. But at Florida he needs to do more.

This is the seminal point.
It all comes down to what the NIL resources are.
Ole Miss and Missouri are two teams that went all in on NIL early.
If FL has a NIL pool in the top 10 in football, then, and only then, is it a better job.
Lastly, the other factor is both Kiffen and Drink run their respective universities. Drink answers only to the BoC, not the AD. I’m sure Kiffen is in a similar situation.
Will they have that at FL?

As you look at the national championship winners and other truly elite teams year after year, who is using this new form of recruiting in your opinion? Is 2023 FSU the best example you have? Because I think you will find high school recruits are still the backbone of any elite team and the 1-2 year transfers just fill in gaps.

We don't have any meddling boosters. If anything, we have boosters who befriend coaches and won't fire their asses soon enough. Condron and Hathcock are probably the two biggest donors and they are the opposite of meddling. They are always positive, always voicing support.
Ben Hill Griffin's kids give to several universities, not just UF, so they don't meddle.
