The Bama vs. FSU loss will go down as an all-time WTF loss

FSU looks awful.

I'm not saying this as shade towards Bama, who looks like a top 3 team right now. I just don't understand how they looked so overwhelmed in that game. Credit to the coaching staff for turning it around, legitimately.

This is a weird era of college football.

No idea, but the crappy weather on the road didn't help.

For sure. At least Michigan had some players and it's a rivalry game.

It would not shock me if Bama made the title game and FSU finished 5-7 or 6-6. It's shocking they were beat so thoroughly in that game.

At least it wasn’t to a 3-9 Kentucky team at home

I thought Norvell was an up and coming star in the coaching ranks a few years ago, but it's now 2 years in a row that his teams completely fall apart after a single loss and he doesn't know how to get them back.

It's almost bizarre how quickly they spiral and completely quit after facing any adversity

2-12 nothing team. First drive straight down for 7. Team and coaches simply did not consider FSU a worthy adversary and got popped for it. Deservedly. In hindsight FSU made this their entire season. Just really bad football.

Programs vs. Flash

It's a long season that is constantly changing.

It’s just that OSU was so damn strong after that game, you have to look back at it as an epic WTF home loss.

Game 1 is always wonky. Especially in a wild arse environment away from home.

Nah, it was typical Gus Malzahn. Good for beating 'Bama and shitting his pants the rest of the way.

The rain, Simpson's first start on the road, Grubb's first game as OC, and a bunch of uncustomary drops from some WR's (Williams) just worked out to a perfect storm for FSU. They were the better team that day and deserved to win, but it's been great to watch 'Bama come back so strong after that loss. May have been the best thing for them honestly, but who knows.

Northern Illinois won at Notre Dame last year and ND played in the national title game.

Gus Bus spent all offseason preparing for Bama. It was easy for FSU to get hyped up to play Bama. For whatever reason, Bama came into the game without much energy.

4 out of 5 DeBoer losses at Alabama have been to teams where he clearly had the superior roster but just got out-schemed and hustled by the opponent. That is something I’m interested to see if that trend stays or can be reversed.

Alabama certainly does not want a premium version of Houston Nutt.

All week one games are a bit weird. Even week two and three can be rough. 2021 Mullen got fired after a disaster of a season where Sanford scored 52 on the defense even. But that highly flawed team still almost beat #1 Alabama in week three if it wasn’t for a walk on kicker.

What about when he smokes teams with relatively equal rosters like against us or LSU? Every coach has warts, but I've been impressed with DeBoer. I wonder about his defenses long term, though.

Michigan team last year would smoke this FSU team.

But holy shite FSU sucks. But Stanford just let them ge tone last play on the 1 yard line.

^^ yeah, I think this had a lot more to do with it. I also think the fact that FSU only won 2 games last year lulled DeBoer & company into a false sense of security, hard to hype the team up for…in addition to not registering that somebody was circling that game like it was their Super Bowl (Malzahn, lmao).

It’s not WTF. It’s Gus Malzahn. As soon as I found out during the game that he is their OC, I had a feeling bama was going to lose.
