SIAP: Clay Travis says Kirby may not have been arguing that he didn’t call time out.

This isn’t my opinion, I’m just sharing what Travis said.

Then why did they give him his timeout back?

He was arguing both things.

Then why wouldn't a flag thrown? Simulating snap by the defense is a penalty.

So now the precedent is set: You can call a timeout to point out things the officials are missing and have your TO refunded.

This doesn't make sense, because they gave him his timeout back.

No matter what, he should've been charged a timeout.

Kirby is clearly running down the sideline to the ref doing the time out signal. When he gets to the ref and the ref calls the time out he quits running. Because he got what he wanted.

He then goes back out to the ref and does the clapping thing the entire time. AND most importantly, he is pointing towards his own team, NOT Auburn.

If he was claiming Auburn was clapping, why doesn't he point to them or the guilty player? Why does he need to make a hand gesture at all to say they are clapping?

And the other tweet showing the Auburn safety clapping - that is not the rule. He's clapping trying to get someone's attention. There is nothing wrong with using it for internal communication. The rule for clapping is if it simulates the offensive teams signals. He wasn't doing that. He clapped over and over quickly and he's no where near the line or in a place where anyone on the Georgia offense would have mistaken it for a signal.

And the bigger reason why it can't be for Auburn clapping is that it would have been a penalty against Auburn if it was. There was no penalty.

Kirby lacks integrity.

: Defensive players are explicitly forbidden from clapping their hands at any time before the snap.

You are wrong

He does appear to be saying "they're clapping," not "I'm clapping."

Now? Its been a penalty. Offenses use clapping to snap the ball in loud environments. The defense clapping is simulating the snap and can cause false starts. This isn't new.
