only to be a backup qb?

I doubt it. If he got benched and the backup did better he probably goes somewhere he thinks he will start. Caldwell won't have any eligibility left after this year I think though so that might change things.

Doesn’t seem like the type of kid to transfer. Not that that means anything in todays CFB era

Maybe to a team that has an O-Line with a pulse.

I think the first thing that needs to happen is for he to have a long conversation with someone whether or not his long term future lies with football, whether it’s talking to scouts, QB coaches etc.
If so, then he needs to go somewhere where he can be properly developed, which has clearly failed to happen at Texas.
If not, then he needs just to go somewhere where he’ll be happy.
This is a terrible stain on Sark btw, and should be fireable. One of three things happened. 1) He wasted a generational talent by not having him prepared 2) he didn’t recognize Arch wasn’t that good, or 3) and most likely, he recognized there was a deficiency but didn’t act on it bc of external pressure, which as a head coach will always come back to bite you eventually.

Sark was the one who recruited Milroe.

Would he owe Texas money if he did ?

It really makes you wonder what Sark saw all spring/fall practice. He had to have known going into the season Arch was going to be a disaster, but decided to play into the hype anyway.

Which I suspect is the case, and, if I were a Texas fan, I would no longer have any confidence in him as a coach.

Sark is an architect that does not understand construction.
I doubt he knew anything.

Arch already got booed by his own fans. He gone. Book it.

Imagine the melt down in Austin if Arch transfers to:
Oklahoma (OMG!)
Ohio State (insert gif of the "Oh f*ck" girl)
Texas A&M (conspiracy theorists all over this one)
Alabama (on their knees begging him to not do this)
USC (oh great, he will win the Heisman next year)
Oregon (he wanted even more money)
Mississippi (damn you, Lane Kiffin!)
