Slightly off topic (not Bama) but is the UGA-barn game this week a must win for the boogs

I think that this week is a true must win for Hugh Freeze and the barn. They’re 0-2 in the conference, playing at home, at night, coming off a bye week, have lost eight in a row to UGA and 17 of the last 20 meetings.

If he isn’t fired, I would think his coaching seat is molten magma hot. If he can go 6-6 and beat Bama, I think he saves his job.

I don’t think he gets fired before boarding the bus if they lose but he’s probably just about condemned if he does. I feel like they need to give him 4 seasons because he did inherit a mess of a roster situation

That would be the most Auburn thing ever. Seems on brand for that program.

Oh, it does. Never forget that the point/goal of their program is to defeat Alabama. Not win the SEC and/or a national championship. Nope, it’s defeating Bama.

And that’s why they’ll always be a petty, loser program.

It depends on how the game goes. I don't see how Auburn will win this game.

Auburn's defense is legit but they're gonna need Arnold to play the game of his career (second to last season against us) to beat UGA.

May end up being a close game though.

They are working on their 5th losing season in a row.

If he can go 6-6 and beat Bama, I think he gets a raise, contract extension, and statue.

Freeze is a dead man walking. He was on a short leash as it was and probably had a 3 -
4yr timeframe to turn the program around.

Even if he goes 8-4 i believe he’s fired. He needed instant success and it didn’t happen.

I have faith they can keep the streak alive.

If they're 5-6 going into the Iron Bowl it'll probably be with an interim coach. I think he needs to win 7 or 8 regular season games to keep his job unless they're so broke that they can't afford to fire him.

Auburn's defense is the real deal. They've held all 3 of their P4 opponents (Baylor, Oklahoma, aTm) to their lowest scoring outputs of the season thus far.

That's going to keep you in a lot of games.

The question is can they find an offense - particularly a passing game. Georgia is 4th in the SEC in yards per game vs the run but they're 13th against the pass. As Bama showed, you aren't going to run much on them but they're very vulnerable through the air.

Auburn is 15th in passing offense. As bad as Georgia's pass defense has been, Auburn's passing offense has been worse.

TL;DNR - There's a path to an Auburn win, but it's going to require their defense creating short field opportunities because Auburn's offense is not going to have many (if any) extended drives.

The power people at Auburn are not happy. Auburn thinks they should rule the state since Saban retired.

Here is a grain of salt.

Georgia is only a 4.5 point favorite. Take Auburn.

Also another interesting matchup that ties into this is UGA’s lackluster pass rush (tied 2nd to last in the SEC alongside Bama) vs AU’s league worst (BY FAR) pass protection

Barring a massive, shocking turnaround, he's a dead man walking but - barring an Arkansas/Notre Dame style blowout - the UGA game won't be the backbreaker. That will happen somewhere in the Mizzou/Arky/Kentucky/Vandy stretch.

Has anyone noticed how Freeze seems to be “checked out” during press conferences and like the weekly one, dude looks like he has maybe slept 2-3 hours? I wonder if his health issues are worse than stated.

I believe it based on the social media reactions when Saban retired. But what fuels that mindset? Still clinging to a six-game win streak (which most of those games were close) against a Bama team gutted by sanctions and led by a coach with zero head coaching experience who'd never even coached college ball?
