Lane was going to Arkansas. They had to convince the money people and during that few days period, Ole Miss got involved. Lane decided on Ole Miss over Arkansas. Arkansas had to go another route.

They should definitely try to hire Kiffin because Pittman was a major reach and it feels like they are just giving up hiring a much older Bobby Petrino. I don’t know what they a thinking long term because even if Petrino works out he won’t be coaching into his 70’s. The greatest ever made it one year into his 70’s and that was with an already established powerhouse that essentially recruited itself. NIL adds a level of stress that simply didn’t exist 5 years ago. It’s a young man’s profession now

Arkansas was a train wreck coming out of the Chad Morris era. OM was at the end of its NCAA sanctions and Matt Luke had recruited the offensive side of the ball well and left behind some talented pieces. Objectively, yes, Ole Miss at the time was better positioned to have quicker success.
