What does this do for you and your feelings towards Deboer?

Me personally? Gives me a nice boost, but I was never a fire him after this year type of guy anyways.
It was really gratifying to get a big win on the road. We needed to prove that. I’ve still got massive issues with Kane and his defense but they got stops when they had to. Was that more UGA choke or us? Maybe a bit of both?
I’m still leery after last year, let’s beat Vandy and Missouri heading into UT at home before getting ahead of our skis.
We’ve got a chance to build here. I guess for me it’s a slight bump, but I wasn’t a big hater on DeBoer to begin with.

I don’t want him fired, either. But I don’t want him to know that.

We need a boost in talent on the D line.
Average at best.

I said after the first week, I wouldn’t be surprised if we beat Georgia. I also said I need to see what we do against Vandy the very next week because that will really tell the tale.

He is an elite Big Game coach. His problem even at Washington is having his team ready to play in the games he is the clear favorite.
I like him but Byrne needs to make him get a whole new defensive staff after this season

If he could find a solid DC, I think he'd be all right.

I want to see how DeBoer handles the week to week grind in 2025. I felt like his team was underprepared in 2 of their 3 regular season losses. That trend continued in the bowl game for 2024 and season opener in 2025.
I know DeBoer is an assassin when playing a highly ranked team off a bye week. I want him to prove he's not Husky Nutt: a man who can upset a quality opponent one week then lose to an average to bad team the next.

Yes. He. Does.

Needs a better D coordinator and to show us that he takes ALL competition seriously. I still think he didn't give FSU the time of day in preparation. Did the same last year. Hopefully he upgrades the D coaching and takes all comers seriously going forward.

He just needs a new defensive line coach that's it

The man may be the best big game coach in the business. His team always perform on the toughest stages.
We now need him to be the best routine game coach in the business.

Everyone is making good points but I think the most important thing that he’s shown us this past month is he’s not to stubborn to change, grow, and learn.
If you watch him in interviews and on the field, if you listen to the players, it’s very clear that he’s changed how he coaches this team. How he communicates with them, how he runs practice, how he handles them in game. He’s willing to go outside his comfort zone and do something different in order to find what works.
I think that’s so important. It’s what Saban was great at for so long. Every time the game changed, the players changed, recruiting changed… he changed with it. And he found new ways to keep dominating. Compare that to somebody like Dabo who has been slow at best, and unwilling at worst, to change.
Now I think the next test of change will be if he’s willing to step outside his comfort zone on staff issues.

I think he and Grubb showed their strongest trait in this game which is offensive game planing and play calling. This skillset is a large part of why he has such a good big game record.
I think the game and time management showed major improvement over last year because we were very methodical to limit UGA’s possessions whereas last year DeBoer seemed like a guy that would go tempo regardless of situation.
That said, a lot of the weaknesses still flashed in this game. Many people will point to Wommack, and maybe they are right to do so, but I think there is just a general lack of physicality on both fronts. The o-line is good in pass protection, but never gets to the second level in the run game. The d-line does nothing except take blocks. Overton making that fourth down stop came out of nowhere given how we were getting pushed around up front. I also thought Kirby and Bobo mishandled that situation badly.
If you swap Grubb and Ty with Bobo and Stockton, I think UGA wins this game by 3+ scores, so I’m not fully bought into our team yet. I am bought into our QB and skill talent, but you can’t consistently perform if you are being outplayed in the trenches.

He still has a lot to prove. His in-game adjustments are terrible. He also needs to recognize the defensive coaching and scheme we are running isn’t the answer. Overall I like the improvement I’m seeing in other areas.

I think he has worked hard since the FSU game to get things turned around. I commend that. We will see what this team is made of over the next few weeks because this is going to be a tough stretch of games that will test them in every way possible.
I really think he needs to go find an elite DC next year. I like Wommack as a person, but he isn’t cut out to be a DC at a place like Alabama.

I agree, but the best indicator of if that change is working would be handling a conference opponent we are supposed to handle. He’s now 4-1 against top 25 opponents during his time here but has lost 4 games to unranked opponents.

I mentioned it in another thread, but if we are to retain Wommack, he needs more help.
Saban had an army of analysts scouting teams for months and giving their input in game week prep. Some of those analysts: Glenn Schumann, Dan Lanning, and I think AJ Milwee was here? Those are just the big names that pop off the mind. There were many more football minds in that building helping out with prep.
I don’t think and I can’t imagine it is still like that in that football facility. Pretty sure I had read somewhere shortly after DeBoer was hired that a lot of these analysts were let go or moved on.
We do need some better position coaches in certain spots, but a solid support staff I feel is what we miss the most. It shows game to game on the defensive side of the ball.
I would love an elite DC to come on board, but If not, we need to get Kane some support to guide him on, and clue him in to, the schematic and technical aspects of each opponent on the schedule.

For $2 million a year or whatever he's making, he shouldn't need help on schematics.
But...outside of Overton making the big 4th down stop, we just don't have the dogs on defense like years past...those household names at LB...elite DL talent...pass rushers. So while KW hasn't impressed, we need a serious front 7 talent upgrade in the portal this off season.
But seeing the defense give up the edge over and over again, that's coaching.
