I think there is enough evidence to think it’s certainly possible.
Hear me out.
The Arch Manning Heisman hype train during preseason died quickly when he was exposed as an average QB. The media/advertisers/networks need someone to fill the void to keep the money/viewership rolling. Here comes Mateer, the new Golden Boy Heisman front runner. The money makers don’t want to see him lose at home to a team like Auburn. They need him winning to keep the hype train rolling.
The amount of horrifically bad/missed calls by the refs the entire game seemed all too coincidental. Their incompetence made a huge difference in the final score.
Auburn absolutely shot themselves in the foot a ton, so they certainly share the blame. 10 sacks given up, holding the ball too long, all those penalties by the O-line, etc. But despite all those mistakes, we were still in the game until the end. The terrible referees were the difference maker.
I think it’s within the realm of possibility that there was a coordinated effort to help the Sooners. When there is millions of dollars on the line, you can’t be surprised when powerful people coordinate to get the outcome they prefer.
But there is nothing that can be done about it now. On to the next one.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, at the end of the day, it IS all about the money. There are millions of dollars on the line. We’ve seen it done in the past(cough, Bama playoff/BCS selection, cough)
But, how does that explain JA holding onto the ball so long, taking sacks when he had open receivers to throw to?

It doesn’t. I agree, the team may have overcome the referees if they had avoided all those mistakes. But the outcome of the game is supposed to be based on the players and the coaching only, and NOT the refs. And the outcome of this game was absolutely influenced by the refs’ incompetence and/or bias on countless occasions.
Why even play the game if the outcome isn’t 100% (or at least 99%) based on play and coaching? I can tolerate some mistakes from the refs; they’re human. This game appeared to be beyond normal human error and moved into the realm of purposeful influence. It defeats the entire purpose of competition.

Maybe this type of coordination isn’t new. The league benefits from the Heisman hype train and increased viewership as much as the other moneymakers. It would appear they have picked their pony and will go to great lengths to prop him up to ensure the money keeps rolling in.

A couple of serious PI's not called on the goal line played a major role in the outcome.
There needs to be an option to challenge that kind of bad ref non-call.

I don’t think that will matter in the long run. The hype train will continue to roll. Viewership will continue to increase. Advertising dollars will balloon. The money makers have picked their pony, it would seem.

It is unbelievable that it isnt very easy to find the names of the officiating crew for any game. I've spent some time this morning trying to find a list of the officials that called the game and cannot find it. It should be in the box score of every game where they have the location, date and time of the game.
To your point, I do not recall ever seeing the old guy who was the white hat yesterday.

The officiating crew needs to be investigated, definitely money behind the scenes controlling the outcome. Yesterday was so blatantly bad that it makes you to not even want to waste your time watching college football.

Let's be honest, the SEC office wants the Red River Shootout to be a bigger game, There should be a backup to the back judge or any ref if the ref gets taken out of plays too--certainly circumstantial, but not seeing that PI is horrible.
