He says all the right things, and they are clearly ascendant.

If he can sustain it and stay there, great.

But if he at all doubts that he can, does he make bank somewhere else?

Hard to say without actually knowing the guy. He's done an exceptional job of coaching and building a team through the portal. It all comes down to which is more important to him.....loyalty or money. If it's loyalty, he stays at Vandy. If it's money, someone will eventually come calling.

If he gets an offer, he’d be smart to split real quick. What’s the chances he actually gets another Pavia at QB? Because let’s be honest, they aren’t winning like they are now without him.

He played 3 yrs there, so you never know what his internal motivations may be.

I think the world is changing. If Nashville wants to put up the money and keep him I think he may not jump so quickly. It’s a different world and us older folks refuse to see it. Nashville is the only SEC town that has NFL and other entertaining attractions. Which means they don’t care.

But have no illusions. That school and growing city has the money to buy coaches and ball players in the new world. They just may not bother.

But the idea that Vanderbilt is an absolute dead end job in sports is over (depending on them). They have the money and wealthy alumni. And other schools and NCAA can’t stop them if they decide to do so.

He won’t always have a 30 year old qb at Vandy. He’d be smart to take the money if he gets a big offer. With Vandy’s facilities, it’ll always be tough to field a competitive team in the SEC.

Florida should roll up with a brinks truck. Or go after that USF coach

Name a better city/town in the SEC or other P4 program to live in?
Maybe a few, but not a lot.
Having said that, I could see a school like Stanford being able to make some sort of competitive offer and be a destination that make sense

Why wouldn’t Vandy put up the money? He’s already in the SEC and Vandy is slowly becoming Stanford of the east. With the increasing popularity of the SEC, Vandy could be poised to be very good for a while.

He has a generational type QB. But I say he moves on to the likes of Ark.

Interesting observation made last night on the SEC postgame show. One of the talk g heads said that when he looked at this game in advance, Vandy’s roster had way more talent than USCe, and at some point, we aren’t going to say it’s an upset when they beat other SEC teams. With some money, and some slack on their academic requirements, would you rather be in Nashville, or some other shitty SEC location?

You gotta judge how he does without an amazing 5th/6th year option QB

Pavia is a gamer, but he's not Cam Newton. There's more to it than Pavia. They fricking destroyed South Carolina.

The real question is how long does Jerry Kill's health allow him to stay on Lea's staff. Beck might be calling plays but their offensive identity is all Kill.

Vandy is his home. His school.

And as bright a star as Pavia is, he is only one cog in the machine and Coach Lea has brought in the talent.

The man can coach.

I think of Vandy wanted to keep him- they could easily show him the money.

he's truly a great coach, my son went to his camps at NIU in high school there's no telling what he could have been if not for his health.

That’s what is wrong with a lot of these coaches. Stop chasing a couple of extra bucks. Stay with that smaller school. Become a legend there. When I say small I mean like vandy, Washington, a Baylor type school. Bc they are probably still making millions. When they leave those smaller schools to go to those bigger schools, you have more pressure to succeed. 7 8 9 wins a year won’t cut it, and now you are fired.

Great point.

Kill can really coach.

Also, Vandy is more than Pavia. He’s the key piece, but the D is very good as well.
