Remember When "Ryan Day was Born on 3rd Base and Thought He Hit a Triple"?

How does this analogy work with Deboer?
Did he get backpicked by the catcher? Forget to tag up trying to score?

Not much more to this than DeBoer seeing fame and fortune in Tuscaloosa and not giving a shite. Overachieved in the pac 12 and looks like a first year quality assurance assistant at Bama. But show me the money and I’ll coach just as soft as that guy can.

Ryan Day is 71-10 (88%) and 24-9 (73%) against ranked teams.
Nick Saban is 297-71-1 (81%) and 83-41 (67%) against ranked teams
In no way am I comparing Day to Saban (yet) but those third base comments are hysterical.

It was a Harbaugh jab at Ohio State a few years back.

Oh I remember.. it was crazy then and it is even crazier now.

Day has an infinitely better track record than DeBoer and it’s not even close.

He was actually a good coach before Bama. Not sure I see the comparison

8 wins 6 losses vs ranked teams since COVID season and before Chip Kelly called plays in 2024 - add in the win over Texas last weekend and he's now 2-4 vs the SEC & ACC without Kelly - 3 wins 4 losses with Kelly -

Because that would be a horrendous take. Saban coached in an era with the toughest conference in the history of college football. All of the talent was accumulated in the SEC for years and Saban kept winning and built a dynasty.
Ohio State is relevant again because of NIL which makes the talent even out across teams more so than the past. Arguing Day is even comparable to Saban is extremely laughable. He doesn’t strike fear into anyone like Saban did.

It really wasn’t. Day inherited a team averaging 12 wins a year with Urban Meyer and had a penchant to lose the biggest games and be anointed a top coach in football. Without seriously earning the title of one of the best coaches in football.
It appears Day has turned a corner but if the 12 team playoff started this year rather than last he would still rightfully have that moniker. He lost to a 4 loss Michigan team in the last game of the year.

I don't know, but I remember last year, a whole lot of Ohio State fans wanted to fire Ryan Day mid-season.

It's based on limited experience with Harsin, but I do think there is probably quite a difference for coaches trying to build cultures of discipline and toughness on the west coast vs. Deep South.

20 million is less than 1 million per starter with $0 for the other 60+ players on the roster, why are some of you still under the impression that 20 million is anywhere near the top of NIL spending? Oregon and Texas are probably spending at least double that.

That really shows the level of competition in the SEC vs the Big 10.

Look to the past, pre-Saban:
Ray Perkins 32-15-1 in 3 seasons
Dennis Franchione 17-8 in 2 seasons
Mike Price in a class all by himself
In other words there were several coaches who succumbed to the allure of taking the HC job at Alabama and like sailors drawn to the sirens song they crashed on the rocks.
Kalen Deboer, welcome to the club.

If you think Chip Kelly was the reason OSU wont the playoff you're a bigger clown than USCe football is historically
Day was the one who opened up the offense after the Michigan game. If you had watched OSU during the time Day was OC the gameplans were very similar. Just look at the UGA/OSU tape from 2022 and you can see how similar it was to the gameplans for the 4 game run

all I have learned about Day is to stay away from wagering on his teams when Kelly's not calling plays - that's the only interest I have in him as a coach -
