We are looking at 10 years to recover from the Deboer hire.

NIL money will dry up. Players will transfer. Recruiting will suffer.

I really thought this behemoth would run itself.

But this whole staff and roster feels like squatters occupying the football facility and cannibaliziing what was the Mecca of College Football.

And in record time.

Best move? Transfer money from the football to the basketball budget.

The only way it takes a decade is if the staff is allowed to stay until the buyout becomes more reasonable in 5 years followed by a 3 year full rebuild.

Yeah, we’d better pull the plug on this experiment ASAP before OP is correct

Not flaming you but this is a misguided take.

You said it yourself, football is king. Without the juggarnaut that is (was) Alabama football, Nate Oats probably isn't at Alabama right now and we aren't building new BB facilities.

I'm not sure how they rite the ship without wiping the deck clean but they better figure it out and figure it out fast. At damn near $70M to make DeBo go away that's not happening anytime soon.

I hope Deboer is smart enough to read the room and see where changes need to be made. Fans see it, former players see it and are saying it.

Beyond the Xs and Os changes that need to be made, this team needs a kick in the arse and someone needs to demand discipline and accountability.

Playing fricking Lil Nas X at practice and Doordash orders at 1AM the night before a game isn't going to get it done. This isn't my opinion, the proof is in the track record and the track record fricking sucks.

Im not for pumping money into a basket case. Use the next ten years to build a basketball dynasty that will last.

Money won't help the situation. Incompetence is the problem. There is no solution.

I do think we need to find an exit strategy for DeBoer as soon as possible. Every week he's coach he's hurting the long term prospects of the program. I get wanting to put resources into basketball, but that's not going to work long term.

I'll be honest - I'm not sure Alabama will be able to compete in this new era where it's mostly about how much money you can spend on players. We just dont have that kind of money.

Is there such a thing as this anymore with 8 new players every year?

Our NIL is competitive and our recruiting classes highly regarded.

The problem is coaching, player development and S&C.

Have never seen the fanbase this united against a coach. Even Shula still had his supporters when he was fired. It’s quite remarkable what DeBoer has been able to do in 14 games.

God knows what this all looks like after 24 games.

It only took Saban two years to turn it around and frankly, we were worse off then than we are now.

I'm not sure if it's just the circles I run in but it seems damn near universal that DeBoer is not the guy and Alabama needs to find a way to get rid of him ASAP.

Maybe the "booster" who got cucked by Kiffin and forced us into this hire should pay the 60 million.

I liked the guy and want him to be successful. It’s the horrible inconsistency that is so frustrating. I wouldn’t be shocked if Bama came out of Athens with a victory. Our A game is pretty fantastic when we get to see it. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Vandy took us to the woodshed in TTown the week after.

This, 1000%. Give this same roster to Kirby, Day, or even Sark, and they win that game and are likely 10-2. The culture and the coaching abilities are the issues.

I will say that our recruiting on the DL has been declining for half a decade or more and it is underwhelming under DeBoer. We just aren’t signing guys like Johnathan Allen or A’Shawn Robinson anymore.

I am assuming you were not around when Bill Curry was the head coach? The sweater vest wore out his welcome very quickly and so did Joab Thomas.
