1. Align properly on punts(if we have any)
2. 0 turnovers by offense
3. Less missed tackle, no more armless dives

Ball State just got beat 31-0 by Purdue. Purdue’s QB threw 311 yards only going 18-for-26. I’d like to see what our passing game looks like, even if it’s vanilla to not ‘give away’ anything for Oklahoma but ideally not just all deep throws because our WR could get behind them.

Barry Odom is now HC at Purdue, so the shutout makes sense although Ball State missed some FGs including a 29yd. Seeing some week 1 to 2 tackling technique and intermediate coverage improvements would be nice. FWIW Odom complained about Purdue’s tackling and a lot of sports media citing the same around the country for many teams. Product of current state of college football due to several factors.

Neither team turned the ball over, but would like to force 1-2. Ball State was 4-of-13 on third down against Purdue - would like to see similar.

Special Teams cleanups.

Getting a lead and rotating in some depth would be beneficial. Injury free hopefully.

Less missed tackles.

Less QB runs, more work on passing game, especially short throws. Jackson needs to work on his touch. OL needs to work on pass protection.

Come out well prepared with a good game plan.
Execution of the game plan while making adjustments as needed
Play with heart.
As a side note, An explanation from a college official of the pass interference rule in college football. there doesn’t appear to be a consistent way to call or not call interference.

Wont really matter. Nothing really can be accomplished until we got to Norman. I think we have learned that over the last few years.

If you come out and perform to “The Standard” then it’s great to get young guys and back ups some reps.

These young guys that are playing a lot need reps that they can win so the games slow down for them.

We need to get better against someone other than ourselves. Thats why these game are done early in the season.

Intensity. No let up from the players because it’s Ball State.

Passing game I want to see some more quick WR screens/throws, some shallow crossers, and some deep curls. Running game, OL needs to dominate again and continue to gel. See if we can get some bigger runs. Clear turnovers have been a big emphasis as you saw Alston and Cobb running with two hands on the ball at all times, which honestly I'm not made about. Going to limit your ability to break some bigger runs, but in a big game, give me the ball security.

Defensively, secondary has to tackle. Fix the communication and alignment issues, attack the check downs quickly and don't let guys turn upfield when they catch the ball.

Yes they do. Opportunity to correct basic line problems. If you are supposed to be on the line, you look at the stripes and announce “ON” or “OFF” linesman will reply. The question is not “am I Ok?’”

My answer was always “What does your Mom say?”

I'd like to see our DBs wrap up when attempting to tackle. And our defensive coaches remember that slant routes exist.

A swarming D that tackles.

A pass rush.

You know damn well Freeze is going to throw it coming out of the tunnel. I want to see Arnold be decisive and accurate.
