That’s the only way I could see all this Wild West era of NIL to come to an end.

You’d see a lot more team continuity since players can’t leave unless they want to forfeit their whole future. If Ryan Williams wants to transfer and the Ohio State nipple rings are snoopin’ around, then pay up that 2 million dollars from his NIL eval to Alabama and he’s yours.

It’s the only language the northern schools know how to speak, so let’s say somethin’ to ‘em.

Throw in some nail polish for him and it’s a lock

Why would anyone sign that?

It would just be illegal without a cba. Can you stop a normal student from transferring to a new school? No, then you can’t do that to athletes. How is it so hard for people to understand? Why do so many of you just so freely suggest things that violate the rights of others?

A big help and something that would undo to some of the damage to team’s roster caused by NIL would be to allow the Jr’s to come back to college for their Sr years if they are not drafted very high. That could help both schools and players.

If a school wants to poach a player they should be paying the school as well as the player they’re poaching. Make it like they’re buying the player plus his wages

How does a contract that someone signs violate their rights?

Because it violates employment and contract law. Does that mean nothing? It’s collusion and illegal. It’s illegal in countless ways without a cba.

Take your job. Now imagine allll the companies in your job sector, from around the country, came together and came up with employment rules regarding everything from time off to max you could be paid. Then presented you a contract, that was against your best interest in many ways and said sign it or you don’t get to work in your job sector anywhere in the country. Would that be legal? It’s just a contract, right?

From a fans perspective do you like the idea of unlimited free agency?

From a donor do you like the idea that you give someone money to be there and then they are gone?

Long term both situations are bad for the game

These kids shouldnt make more than a small stipend. They havent done anything except show up. Now they make more money than a lot of NFL players with half the effort. Dumbest idea in all of sports.

Why is this so hard to understand…..Yes they can transfer. But with a contract they can be held financially liable. As long as they are 18 years of age and older.

No compete contracts have been challenged in the courts. And the plaintiffs have lost. The answer is don’t sign a contract you can’t live up to.

There is no way you are going to get either the players OR the schools to agree to that.

Illegal. No schools would even agree to such nonsense, nor players sign dumb contracts against their best interest

All of this dumb shite you people come up with is illegal WITHOUT A CBA. Get it through your heads!

Nothing is changing until that happens and it’s not happening any time soon, so get used to how things are

If the NLRA was ever snapped out of existence for whatever reason, all this goes out the window. I’ve never seen a single person outside some made of glass athletes that liked unions. They’re the collective bargaining version of the people that stand in front of the road to protest injustices happening thousands of miles away in another country.

You are not paying a normal student. Students can sign contracts for many things that they can be held accountable for... an example... scholarships. These students are adults under the law (at 18) and contracts would have nothing to do with their academic side and even if it did the like a normal student they can be held accountable. It will get there, trust me.

I hate to bust your bubble, but non-competes exist, million+ dollar contracts are not against an 18 year olds best interest, and collective bargaining happens in multiple sectors in the economy. You’re rambling and look like an idiot.

I agree but saying that raising canes cant pay them big money to be in a commercial because fans are worried about how it affects the game is retarded. I dont think the schools should be paying but if private parties want to offer endorsements then good for them.
