If your team is struggling in this era, it just means you have a disorganized or incompetent staff and athletic department
This era has been fantastic at showing the warts that programs have been able to hide from view.
Adapt or die

What happened in decades past was illegal. You cannot use that justification for current situation. You will be laughed out of court just like the NCAA has over and over
What is being suggested is illegal. They are normal students in the eyes of the law. They do not have a contract, they are not employees, they do not have a union that can bargain
They are students and all this nonsense is illegal

simple fix. make NIL contracts multiple year deals. leave before your contract is up and there's financial penalties.
That is illegal and absolutely not how NIL works
NIL is a contract between an athlete and another party. It is illegal for a 3rd party to attempt to restrict, influence or burden that agreement

Okay goofball. So then why are there laws which people must follow? Social norms? Maybe just challenge all that in court too, huh?
Ohh boy, you are in way over your head here. I suggest you just stop thinking about these things and focus on whatever your special interests are

They had a transfer portal designed because of what exactly we are seeing now. If the adults in the courtrooms can’t come up with a solution, the answer shouldn’t be “oh well… frick it. Nothing to see here.” You can’t let kids under a scholarship dictate rules to the institution. It sets a terrible precedent
No goofball, it sets a legal precedent
Just because you don’t like something, that doesn’t mean you get to violate other people's rights
Love to see your thoughts if your boss told you that you can’t quit and your wage is being frozen for the next decade. It would set a great precedent for the company

got into a bit of a spat with someone on a CFB blog about the portal and the abuse and the times it is open. Need to go back to one time for the portal to be open.
How is this so hard to understand for people? THAT WOULD BE ILLEGALLLL
You cannot impose restrictions on transfers, the NCAA already lost this battle in court and has conceded this fact

No..
In the eyes of the law, a normal college student is exactly what you are looking at.
You cannot impose restrictions on student athletes that are not imposed on normal students. That is illegal
Blame their admin then, they didn’t renew the contract of their HC and he left. That what brought about all of this for them. It’s their own incompetence

It’s a great thing then that dominating the transfer portal has been a sure fire sign of success across CFB
It’s never a sign of a destabilized program that is going to have issues, so LSU/OM fans should rejoice!

What in the world does what you just said have to do with anything?

The transfer window should be one, from June 1st to June 30th every year.
You cannot tell college students that they cannot transfer at the end of a semester. How does even suggesting that make any sense to you?
Imagine if TN tried to tell a normal student that they cannot transfer after the fall semester and had to wait till summer. It’s preposterous, right? They have no right to do it, just like they have no right to do so to student athletes

You can’t make someone sign a contract
If one school or conference tries to instill things that players don’t want, guess where the top talent goes? Another team or conference that isn’t stupid

They don’t sign those type of contracts and until they do, it is illegal
Why would any player sign a contract that limits their ability of free movement? Watch what happens to the first team that tries it

I learned my lesson with your first post
Not reading that nonsense. I imagine when you walk away from people, you can hear “that guy sure likes to hear himself talk” a lot
Likely not one iota of self awareness about it either

What if your company said if you leave your job, you have to give them half your salary for the next year from your new job
I bet you’d sign right up for that

This just sounds like boomer nonsense to me
The vast majority of coaches have been obscenely overpaid. The players were being taken advantage of financially, to the benefit of coaches salaries and sports that lose money for the athletic department
