Why do these agreements between networks and carriers always seem to expire around college football season?

Another reason not to slavishly chase broadcasts.

Screw it. I use to build my fall weekends around Auburn football, but the last decade has seen Covid, the portal, NIL, expansion, broadcast nonsense, and on and on.

I’ll check highlights or watch the next day online.

I will not seek out a game. I’ve got Comcast with 200+ channels that is enough TV.

When it all goes PPV and elite +packages like Peacock, Paramount, etc, I’ll just read the scores or listen to radio broadcast.

Probably to use as leverage in negotiations

1. Fox asks for ridiculous number
2. TV provider says no to keep costs/profit margin reasonable
3. Fox pulls football
4. People yell at TV provider for not having football not realizing you’re usually on the TV provider’s side of these things.
5. TV provider caves to pressure
6. TV provider ups costs of providing TV
7. People bitch costs go up

Uh I’m on YTTV because DTV Now couldn’t get it together with ESPN last year. I’ll be switching back if YTTV can’t get it together with Fox. I can assure you it’s the streaming service that takes the big hit. They are basically going to wait and see how big of hit they will take to use as leverage. I’m sure there is data on how many subs they picked up when DTV lost ESPN. They may be fine with that number. Who knows but month to month you can quit anytime.

I shouldn’t say, switching back because I blame the streaming service for waiting to last minute. Hulu will likely be the winner…

I'm not your lobbyist or negotiator YTTV. I pay for a service, you deliver the service.

I need to double check the antenna. Wouldn't be surprised if it was somehow blacked out.

I haven't been able to pick up decent antenna coverage in years over two different homes in the Charlotte area.

I just tested mine out. Signal is working great. I’m sure it will be a different story at game time somehow though.

I wouldn’t think this would be a blackout.

Screw them. I'll cancel if this is blacked out. They can get their shite together before then.

Our goal is to keep Fox content, including channels like the Fox Broadcast Network, Fox News, and Fox Sports on YouTube TV. We hope to reach a deal, but we want to be transparent that if we’re unable to reach an agreement by August 27, their content may become unavailable.

Hopefully they have it settled Wednesday.

Is the game available on Hulu? I think I saw somewhere that it is.

If it isn't on, I will not feel bad at all about finding a pirated stream.

Good thing I ditched those shite services for IPTV a long time ago. I can watched the feed from the Juneau, AK affiliate if the mood strikes me.

Because the real leverage is NFL coverage.

As long as it's just a threat the general public isn't going to raise much of a fuss. However, actually have the carriage agreement expire and the channel(s) get removed from the provider, you better believe that there are going to be a lot of calls/emails to the provider demanding that they cut a deal so that folks don't miss their NFL games.
