I didn’t read the full article as word just broke like an hour and a half ago. I’m curious if they are going to cite health risk or if it’s being considered performance enhancing.

Next they’ll ban water, masking signs of dehydration.

Why does society feel the need to constantly make rules and ban things?

Obviously the NFL is anti Baker…..

I’d have to know / understand more before forming an opinion. Then there’s the fact that I don’t care enough to do the work.

This is what we are heading towards.

Remember sitting behind the Auburn sideline a couple years ago and seeing a GA with a paper Gatorade cup walking around and giving players a sip/sniff lol. I knew immediately his job was to give the boys a whiff of the salts but be lowkey about it.

I wonder if there were real concerns it masks concussions, or it was just getting out of hand and they decided to pull the plug on them. I’ve seen shows about their use, and there were pictures of hundreds of used salts scattered on the floor after pro games and scrimmages.
There are a lot of pissed off NFL players tho.

This is actually big news. They have used those for decades to snap back into it. Which I assume is why they are being banned.

But what if a player gets bumped so hard that his feet end up in the hole at the top and he kicks that other player in the head.. Concussion just waiting to happen.. We're gonna need helmets inside of those bubbles..

I think that after decades of use, some players are so used to playing on them the entire game, they will struggle without them.

Exactly. On top of being a stimulant, it brings a player back to consciousness when the brain is still naturally rebooting. Anything that the NFL sees as unnaturally speeding this process up will be considered a potential way to throw a band-aid on a concussion.

It's infuriating. We have these douchebags in Texas now trying to ban the Delta products while roughly 1100 people die here every year from drunk driving.
I have nothing against alcohol. Enjoy it myself occasionally, but the hypocrisy is rich.
My uncle has severe ptsd from 3 tours in Afghanistan. It helps him quite a bit so clearly we can't have that. Much better if he turns to liquor I guess.

I hate this time of year because all the amateurs who quit football in 7th grade become fantasy football experts on everything, based on what some woman on a NFL channel said
No, the smelling salts would not "mask the sign of concussion"
Letting the player fall asleep could absolutely mask the signs of concussion, or worse, as in seizures or even a stroke
so anyone who says, "oh yeah, just let the guy fall asleep" is a fricking idiot and should be sued for medical malpractice
