Do they feel his nerves? Does he do a bad job of preparing guys for high pressure situations?

-1st baseman not covering first and going for that ball
- not turning two
- frick up in left field

Same thing happens to Tennessee basketball players in March . They start feeling their coaches nerves and pressures then they mess up. I honestly think the players want it for their coach more than the coach wants it for themself. At least that’s how it feels in vol basketball

The game is 90% mental and in high stress situations the brain functions differently. That’s all I can think of.

How do you do this? A peptalk? Still up to the players to perform.

But that impacts everyone. Why does Arkansas stand out here?

In Omaha, it’s the Mike Martin/FSU effect. Each year that DVH comes away empty, the pressure piles up higher. That 9th inning was just another example of it.

Practice in high pressure game like scenarios.

I don’t think DVH ever wins one. The cumulative pressure effect is too much to overcome at this point.

The honestly, I think he over thinks things in high pressure situations and it bleeds over to his players, and they start overthinking instead of just going with their instincts

A few failures of the past and it seems to weigh heavier on the minds of the players. Once they break through and win it’ll be gone.

Love the way McDonnell does it at L’Ville.
7th inning team meeting. Look them in the eyes & make sure everyone grasps the situation. Reset & finish the game

This. The nervous energy he exudes once he gets to Omaha was already too much, this just put the final nail in the coffin.

Going with a freshman pitcher in that situation might not be the best move.

Fouch was ready.

The pitcher did his job and more. Nothing about that was on him.
