What are the odds that when DVH retires we hire Vitello?

People think it’s practically certain but I’m not so sure. One, Vitello has turned Tenner around and can obviously get the job done there. So why try to start all over by coming here?
Two, I’m not so sure the DVH/Vitello beef hasn’t left a bad taste in Tony’s mouth about us. Maybe I’m wrong, but I could see him turning us down for spite. Idk.
I could go on a tangent about the pros and cons of hiring him, but that’s for another thread.
What say you?

Very low. It'll either be Thompson or Wes Johnson if Yuracheck is wanting to get his own name back in the headlines.

10% or less. TV is the highest paid coach. Doubt our AD would even match. It’d take a Tyson type of booster to make it happen.

Interesting….didnt know he was the highest paid. I think that definitely lowers the odds

Vitello would be a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th of the CWS type of hire. He could carry the torch. There would be zero drop off in winning baseball at Baum.
There's a lot of hires that would prove shitty. Vitello would allow us to continue winning big.

Bobby Wernes has a better chance than either of them.
DVH and Bobby are extremely tight according to some players parents that I've talked to.
It most definitely won't be Vitello.

Not sure how I feel about that. He’s wet behind the ears

quote:His comments the past few days in our own media don't seem that way. He started tearing up talking about seeing all the old staff and couldn't stop talking about how much he missed the program. Also the "beef" between the two specifically is massively overblown by the media. Tony worships DVH. He even went as far as to say he modeled his own coaching approach after DVH in the interview he did on the Chuck and Bo show a couple of days ago.

I was in the "there's no way we hire Vitello" camp up until the last few days. Now I'm not so sure we couldn't coax him here, especially if DVH specifically asked him to take over for him. I'm obviously not going to put the house on it, but it wouldn't shock me if we made it happen.
If it were to fail, I think it'd be because the administration tried to be cheap. Which is a very real possibility. We would likely have to more than double what we're currently paying DVH.

Vitello has to be the first call, and if he picks up, you don't let him off the phone until he says yes.
I hate all of the DVH replacement talk because it means the end is getting near.

He's been to Omaha 8 times while he's been here. This is the only one he's cried for. I just got a sinking feeling when that happened. I could just be reading too much into it, but it's starting to feel like a last ride.

Some of it may have been because he was happy and overwhelmed by getting to coach and be around this group for a while longer. This has been a very entertaining team for many reasons and I’m sure he wants them to be rewarded for it as well. I’m happy for him.

I think he's auditioning. Getting back in DVH's good graces. Him and his team were both well behaved minus one 'tard that was just a jackass and not really that bad. His behavior post game with our staff and the post game interviewed struck me as a man that would like to be back at Baum as the captain of the ship.
Is there a better job in college baseball right now? Arkansas loves it's baseball even more than the other top SEC programs. LSU would be up there but you're still a step child to a successful football program and it's in Baton Rouge.

If Vitello came to Arkansas, that first series at Tennessee would require personal security for him lol
