Natural grass and the fences are deeper than Tennessee's.

Not sure Coastal Carolina would agree, the yr they won CWS was pretty unexpected

OP is likely referring to this years field of 8. If Murray St were to win it, they’d be the biggest underdog ever under the current CWS format. Idk what happened in the decades before so there could be something similar. 2016 Coastal isn’t the biggest underdog champ in the modern format, that goes to Fresno State

Coastal had been in the supers multiple times and had a nice little history of being a NCAAT team before that run. They got way more support from their school than Murray. And Murray just won their first NCAAT game since the 70s this year and it was only their 4th overall appearance and first in over 20 years. They’ve been a nobody their entire existence and just made the CWS. They’re more comparable to Stoney Brook as much as it pains me to bring them up

Murray State has only made the NCAA Tournament (not CWS, but the post-season all together) four times in their history. Two of those in the 1970s.

Coastal has been to the NCAA Tournament over 20 times.

They can hit the shite out off the baseball, only have a few pitchers, but they can swing it...that big field i wouldn't be surprised if they stick around a bit

Common sense would dictate that a 4 seed is way less likely than any 2 seed which Coastal was (and a strong one at that).

Is that a used car lot over the left field fence?

Coastal is +360
Murray is +3000

I had no idea that only Arkansas and LSU were getting better odds than Coastal.

I saw on a YouTube clip that one of our assistants tried to help vitello get the missouri job while he was here, damn, they turned him down. That’s a heck of a mistake right there.

Going to start seeing this a lot more now with the portal. D1 talent moving to smaller schools because they can’t get playing time

Just a few from this year alone
Murray St
UTSA
Wright St
Little Rock

Edit… Murray St had 24 transfers this season

"Hit the shite out of the ball"......not in front of 23,000 / 20,000 LSU fans.

Cool. Reminds me a bit of 2012 with Kent State and Stony Brook. Kent State sent #1 Florida home.

that goes to Fresno State

This. They weren't far over .500 and needed to win their conf tournament just to get into a regional as a 4 seed. They played a tough slate and literally came out of no where to win in 08.

That said, Murray St is a much smaller school and a great story all the same.

It is a great CWS field all around. It is good for the sport. You have to love baseball.

Murray State's playing surface is actually better than Tennessee's - at least the field is real dirt and grass and not a children's playground rubber.
