I hope this team has been playing hard but keeping their eye on the big prize all season. Maybe that's what they have been doing. Seemed like they got fired up for the Texas series, and we saw what that looked like.

This team has the defense and offense to win enough games.

Starting pitching is hit or miss, but the bullpen is DEEP.

I am starting to allow myself to get a bit hopeful.

You never know. Roll the dice as the heavy underdog. It's just a different animal to start than to come in for relief. I always preferred to start, but didn't mind relieving except it was hard to get warm coming from 3rd. Never had the chance to warm up in a bullpen. Luckily a very, very young Greg Maddux introduced me to the cut fastball when I was 14. Not that I could work it like him, but that bitch moved. I just didn't know where. I remember watching him show us. Work of art. He's been my favorite pitcher ever since. I wish more kids would focus on learning how to pitch than to throw.

Damn he'd be a great pitching coach if could deal with people not having the command he did. I wish I would've had a recording of how he talked about setting up hitters, changing speeds, hiding your tendencies or using them to bait batters like a poker game.
