If he had stuck it out he would’ve had a great chance to be QB1. He’s a talented kid.

Didn’t he get benched mid-year at Pitt last season? I could be mistaken.

He made the right decision. He was never going to be given a legitimate shot at starting. He went to Pitt, started right away, was having a pretty good season, then got injured and missed the last part of the season. I expect him to be the starter this season again.

Got it, thanks for the clarification.

I remember a while back someone posted here that he won the starting job and was doing some good things at Pitt as QB1. I checked his stat sheet later on in the season and it looked like he wasn’t getting any playing time down the stretch - didn’t realize he was injured though.

Hope he does well. I thought he was pretty talented coming in and would eventually challenge for a starting spot at UA. Was disappointed he portal’d so quickly.

He put up 90% of his numbers against:

- Kent State
- Cincinnati
- West Virginia
- Youngstown State
- North Carolina

A FCS team and 4 of the worst pass defenses in the FBS. I hope he keeps doing well but lighting up the sisters of the poor doesn't tell me a whole lot.

Yeah, he was no Milroe, that’s for sure. He has accomplished more than Ty at this point. Let’s hope that changes this year. Who was the other QB in the room that transferred and where did he go?

Milroe destroyed bad teams just like Holstein did. vs WKU, mercer, wisconsin, USF

46/68 (68%) 776 yards, 11.4 YPA, 10 TD/0 INT
199 rush yards, 4.7 Rush YPA, 7 rush TDs

He also destroyed LSU twice and UGA twice.

BC @ Pitt on 10/4/25

Battle of the Ex-Bama QBs (if Lonergan can beat out Grayson James, who played in 6 games for BC last year)

I'll give the kid credit for transferring to a new team and having to learn a new system, and coming out being the starter. I'll also give him some credit for being a first-time starter and the growing pains that go along with that, and still having enough success to keep the starting job (until he got injured). He should exponentially grow from year one to year two.

I mean I'd be okay with it but barring some personal connection to Pittsburgh on your part I don't see why you would actively want it. To me the big appeal of a home/home series is seeing Bama play in a great environment they don't usually get to visit. The Steelers' half empty stadium doesn't impress me.

No better way to spend a day then having breakfast in Schenly Park, spending midday game in a half empty not Heinz Field watching them sweet baby blue and golds do weird things that coach Narduzzi tells them to do and then relaxing on the Alleghany halfway watching an afternoon Pirates game. It beats the atmosphere of State College every single time. That place should be raised to the ground.

This. Never going to have an issue with kids that get to their SO year and see/have a feel for where they rack and stack, then opt to go somewhere they can be competitive for playing time in what will likely be most of their final years playing ball.

Its the ones who are starters and stars just chasing free agent money that hurts the game for me, even if I get the humanistic urge to maximize value in this NIL era when you can. Crazy things happen. Cashing in before they might happen to you isn't a bad option; even if, it changes the feel of the game for fans.

Honestly, wish all of the transfers luck. Its still just a game, and none of us know what we'd do either in their situations at that age.
