UF numbers are wrong. UF has 5 Final 4's. 9 Elite 8s. Assuming not counting vacated, so excluded additional S16 and such.

Gave OU 15 S16's. They have 11. Guessing that at a minimum would put UF 3rd, which is where they should be at worst by any measure.

Also think Final 4, Elite 8's, etc before the modern era shouldn't count the same. A team getting to the Final 4 when there is only 8 teams is apples to oranges against a 64/68 team field.

Yeah also 0x All Star Myles Turner above Kevin Garnett & Pistol Pete. You sure OP?

Edit: Pistol Pete was surprisingly low but KG has 191.4 WS according to bball reference

PIstol Pete is a perfect example of too much weight being placed on NBA.

I'd add number of all-american seasons in college. Not players, seasons.

The NCAA tournament numbers for Auburn aren't correct in that write up. They have 14 tournament appearances, not 12. They've been to 6 Sweet 16s, not 10.

Auburn has an incredible record in the first round of the NCAA tournament though going 12-2 in openers in their 14 appearances. I'd be curious where their 85.71% winning percentage in the first round ranks among schools all time

I get any ranking system like this is ultimately subjective but the emphasis given to progressing into later rounds of the NCAA tournament (and not just in your ranking system, but in others as well) is frankly ridiculous to me. According to this system, making it to the Elite 8 in the tournament - an accomplishment which on its own does not actually win anything - is more valuable than winning the conference regular season title. I know that in large part this is because the tournament is a) exciting, and b) the only time that most sports fans pay any attention to college basketball. But still, it seems not right that this system values a season in which you barely skate into the tournament as a 9-seed, catch fire, and win three games in a row before losing in the E8, more than a season in which you are regular season champions but then have an off night and get bounced in the first round of the tourney.

Too Hell with the idea of evaluating College Programs based upon Pros picked. That's the Calipari way. Making a school into a better AAU team.

The greatest night in Kentucky basketball - or any school's basketball - isn't getting five kids drafted to the NBA. Its winning a Natty, or making a Final Four, or as far as your program ever got.

Agreed & would definitely prefer that as a metric. I understand OP using the stats available, but Charles Barkley's win shares in his 30s just don't move the needle in a discussion about NCAA programs imo

I didn't even notice the Kevin Garnett listing for South Carolina.
