Security was unable to keep about 30 students rushing the court last night. Expensive fine for a few students.

Update:

SEC shouldn’t risk pissing off the current face of the SEC over a few bucks

But we’re rich, so it’s whatever.

Beginning to wonder if you’re that TheForeSkin poster.

I agree, but I would not put it past Sankey to fine Ole Miss.

Hold the 30 student partially responsible. Make them pay part of the fine. Hard to restore deterrence otherwise.

If it's a rule, then they should. If it isn't a rule, then they shouldn't. Does the rule say there is a fine imposed if 31 or more people rush the court? If not, then I guess they could have saved money by paying more for security up front.

I doubt it. They immediately got security in place and yelled over the PA system before the end of the game and immediately after to not come on the court.

The rule is in place to punish teams who don’t try to do anything to stop it. We pretty clearly did just that.

To run the risk of answering the question seriously, my hunch is the SEC will review the tape and see that neither Tennessee nor the game officials were ever impeded upon, which is the spirit of the "policy".

That kind of money would shut Ole Miss down.

No, it was only a handful of students.

When I was at Ole Miss Cobra Security would have been swinging chairs at people

Good question.

Counter, does just the tip count? Seems about the same logic for those saying yes or no

ID the perps and punish internally, then make a plea to the SEC, and it would be waived.

Let them have fun. The trash they threw was more of a hazard than the storm and that was more of technical waiting to happen than a danger. The SEC already does too much to police fun.

KSR was pointing out they fined UK 100,000 when we beat MSU when a dozen students ran on the field. So don’t be surprised if they do and if they don’t the SEC should refund $100k plus interest to UK.

I understand it is a safety thing but UT was in no danger last night.

If they know who the students are, see if banning those students from attending any sporting event for the next year would make the conference office happy.
