Nebraska and Rhule are a fricking joke. So they really got scared of Tennessee!

Nebraska is pointing out that they had pushed back the series twice due to Tennessee's request but the Vols weren't willing to do the same. I wonder how true that is

Tenn was delaying until they had a decent team. They didn't want to get embarrassed by some really bad Nebraska teams. Now, they feel like they can win so it's a big deal.

I don't blame them. Why play any extra hard games. Look at Boise and SMU this. Year. Just get to the playoff. I wish we would sub out every once game with a UT-martin, samford type game.

CFB is what CBB would be without a NET/SOS/quad wins component to the selection Sunday/bracketology discussion.

We need a framework for how to evaluate a team as an at large because right now Nebraska is the logical team and TN/Bama etc with multiple significant OOC games scheduled over the next few years are acting illogically.

I’m not doubting Tennessee would beat the brakes off Nebraska. But how does that make sense?

You’re saying now that Nebraska has improved a little maybe that now Tennessee feels like they could beat them if the game was still on?

And yet here is a quote from their head coach that completely debunks that narrative.

I despise the nubs as much as anyone, but I agree. Why do it. There is no benefit.

Alabama just needs to stop scheduling these tough OOC games. There is nothing to gain by playing them. If anything, it will keep us out of the playoffs again.

Y'all beat Wisconsin last year though. That's not what kept y'all out of the CFP.
Teams like UF and UGA certainly have no incentive to play 2 P4 OOC annually when the rest of the SEC won't.

The biggest problem with the current system is that there are not enough intraconference games to definitively determine the best conference. The non P4 games need to die on the vine and conferences need to play each other.

The series was originally agreed upon in 2006 for the two teams to play in 2016 and 2017. In 2013, Tennessee asked to postpone the series in so they could add the game at Bristol Motor Speedway against Virginia Tech in 2016. Both sides agreed to push it back 10 years (2026-27). The original contract was signed in 2006, which is why the buyout is only $500,000 per game.

Want to take another trip with the Columbus crazies to “Neyland North”?

What kept you out of the playoff was Vandy and Oklahoma.

Yes. We play BAMA, UGA and Florida every year, played ND back when they had their ridiculous rosters, got beat by Nebraska 45-17 who won the title that year in the post season and we won the BCS directly after. You don’t get better by playing bad teams, especially when you’re on the edge of breaking through again.

Tell this to Stoops. If we update the schedule, we might lose Louisville, and we should play them every year. I'm not sure cupcakes help your team very much.

Don't forget in that era we were playing home and homes with freaking Miami when they were still an NFL roster too. That game we won in Miami 10-6 was one of the hardest physically skull cracking wars I've ever seen two football teams put on each other. Both defenses were not screwing around that day.
