3.18 GPA 38 on Deans list, nine new graduates, 89 with a 3.0 or better.

UGA posted a new record high with a semester at 3.02. Congratulations UGA.

Any of them major in anything worth a damn? You might as well throw a General Studies degree in the garbage.

Who cares? Why would a school offer a degree if isn’t worth a damn?

You're a dumbass if you remotely believe this isn't closer to the truth than not. I played D1 sports and I know the routine. Especially for a VAST majority of "football" players, who are students last.

Not sure of what they all are majoring in. I know that there are some Engineering students in there:

Nathan Roberts - Mechanical Engineering
Brian Grant - Mechanical Engineering
Gaston Moore - Supply Chain Management (US News #4 program in the US)
Arion Carter - Pre-Professional Program (over-arching program for Pre-Law, Pre-Med, Pre-Vet, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Pharmacy)
Will Brooks - Grad School (earned BS in Finance in Spring '24)

Those are just the ones I could find in a 5 or so minute search. Sure, there are some "University Studies" or "Communications" majors, just like there are in all schools. But they are emphasizing academics to try and actually have student athletes.

Given the amount of academic support they get, 3.02 should be considered embarrassing.

True. It was such a hard school that Stetson Bennett couldn't earn a degree there in 6 years.

I don't give a shite about their GPA. Show me the difficulty of what they're majoring in.

You do realize you helped him make his point, right?
Stetson Bennett would have been an honors student at Tennessee.

$$$$$$

Academia doesn’t care if you can earn a living from your degree. They take the money.

Absolutely. I feel that if you want to voluntarily go to college (and ACCEPT responsibility for the debt you incur) you should be able to take any class you like. If someone is enrolled in the class, clearly someone believes it has value.

Problem is that universities aren’t meeting the specific academic needs of the athlete. You should be able to major in a sport.
