Will a team ever win the NC that isn't currently part of the SEC, ACC, or B1G?

You have to go all the way back to 1990 to find a national champion that is currently outside of these 3 conferences.

Whoever wins it still won’t be Ole Miss

Depends how long it is before Notre Dame joins the B1G.

ND just made $20 million by being independent. Moving to a conference would give them too many losses in a season.

I think it's actually $32 million. They get an extra $3 million for each round to cover expenses.
- They get to keep 100% of the NBC money
- They have schedule freedom outside of their contracted ACC games
- They keep 100% of their postseason payouts
- They hate the Big Ten conference

a potential big10/SEC super alliance would force them to make a choice......

Tech an acc team won it in 90, you’d have to go back two years to holtz nd team in 88, with conference affiliation it’d be 84 BYU( however most ppl feel this was a screw job as Washington huskies were the best team).

Very debatable, let the big decide on 10 conference games and nd will be running out of teams to schedule.

ND is the obviously the most likely to do it. After that it becomes a really interesting question - I’d guess Arizona State

Geographically it sits in a nice spot. Arizona is ripe with talent, and it's close to California and Texas. The President (Crow) is not a sports guy, so I doubt they make a serious run until he retires.

Notre Dame would be fools to join a conference with their current set up.
